6th ITINERANT FILM FESTIVAL BY THE BIERZO

1) FESTIVAL DESCRIPTION

«38Retinas» is an annual itinerant film festival, which aims to bring the best of short films and audiovisuals from any corner of the world to the 38 municipalities of the El Bierzo region that request it.

The screenings of The 6th edition of the festival will take place throughout the second semester of 2024.

The Association “Mi Retina me Engaña” is the organizing entity of this event, a complementary activity of the Ponferrada International Film Festival, whose collaborating entities are the Town Halls participating.

2) OFFICIAL SECTION

Fiction, documentary or animation short films of the comedy genre from any country or nationality can participate. The theme will be free:

A touch of humour. Cinema for all audiences: Different styles of comedy (romantic, sentimental, messy, absurd, parody, sophisticated, musical, black humor, social criticism, rural world…)

3) PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

– Films shot in any format and produced with after January 1, 2022.

– The maximum duration of the participating short films may not exceed 30 minutes.

– Any film whose original language is not Spanish must be subtitled in that language, preferably with a file in SubRip (SRT) format.

– All the finalist films will have to be suitable for all audiences.

– Not have been registered or screened in previous editions of the Festival.

4) REGISTRATION

The submission of works to participate must be done exclusively online through the Festhome platform (www.festhome.com)

It will be mandatory to upload as attachments: the poster and 2 frames of the film, as well as a copy of the DNI and a photograph of the director. It is advisable to send a promotional trailer.

The film admission period will end on May 31, 2024.

5) SELECTION

There will be a selection committee that will decide the finalist works. The organization will communicate the decision to those selected from July 1, 2024 at the email address indicated in the corresponding section of the data or files of each film. The selected films will appear on the Festival website (www.38retinas.com)

All the selected films will have to upload before July 15, 2024 to Festhome (www.festhome.com) a Projection Copy in HD file with the codec H264 and a minimum resolution of 1920×1080 -1080p- in the formats .mov or .mp4.

6) SCREENINGS

The copies of the films and trailers sent by the participants will remain the property of the organization, which will be integrated into the visual archive of the Festival. All the selected films may be used for projections of a non-profit cultural nature in collaboration with the different entities that participate in the festival.

The producers of all the participating works authorize the use of the requested trailer or a fragment of them (maximum 3 minutes) for its dissemination as informative and promotional material in all the media used by the Festival (Cinemas, public screenings, television, Internet, etc.).

The projections will be made using the previously requested projection copy and They will be held in the locations that have requested it, and may be viewed indoors or outdoors.

7) “38Retinas 2024″ AWARD

– “38Retinas 2024” Award and 300€ for the best short film in the “A Touch of Humour. Cinema for all audiences” official section, awarded by the public attending the screenings

The winning film will be awarded a diploma and recognition laurels that prove its award status at the Festival.

All finalist works will be awarded recognition laurels that prove their status as selected at the Festival.

The organization reserves the right to award other prizes or mentions in consideration of the artistic and technical quality of the works presented.

At the end of all the projections of the official section, the 38Retinas 2024 award will be announced.

The economic prize will be paid by bank deposit, in favor of the natural or legal person who owns the film, being subject to the withholdings determined by current law. In addition, the economic amount may be modified depending on the agreements established with the collaborating entities before the Festival is held.

8) ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS

Participation in this Festival implies acceptance of these rules. The absence of any important data in the registration, as well as the material attached to it and the breach of the established deadlines, may suppose the non-participation in the Festival of the corresponding work. Any incident that arises during the celebration of it, will be resolved in the judgment of the organization.
