The Elche International Independent Film Festival, organized by Mediterraneo Foundation's main objective is to offer a cultural space to filmmakers and moviegoers.

Animated short films of up to 30 minutes are allowed. From any country. If it has dialogues and they are not in Spanish, they will have to have Spanish subtitles incorporated.

Short films made by authors whose filmography does not exceed three short films. They can be short films of Fiction, Animation and/or Documentary with a maximum duration of 40 minutes.

Documentary productions of any nationality are accepted (non-Spanish ones must incorporate Spanish subtitles). Maximum of 40 minutes. They will compete for the "Ciutat d'Elx" Award for Best Documentary Short Film. If the winner is Spanish, he will also be included in the shortlist for the Goya Awards of the Spanish Film Academy.

The entry will be open to those productions that come from authors from the Valencian Community or from production companies based in that Autonomous Community. They can be works of Fiction, Animation or Documentary. These short films must be shot in Valencian or have Valencian subtitles. The maximum duration will be 40 minutes.

Short films of up to 25 minutes of Fiction or Documentary that denounce abuses and violations of Human Rights and that come from the following countries of the Mediterranean or the Mediterranean environment: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Palestine, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, Tunisia, Andorra, Jordan, Kosovo, the territories of Kurdistan (within Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey), San Marino, Northern Macedonia, Mauritania, the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic and Romania.
