The International Fantastic and Horror Film Festival in Tàrrega - Galacticat, which is held every year since 2014, is the first and only fantastic and horror film Festival in the lands of Lleida, aimed at all moviegoers in general and lovers of science fiction and terror in particular and with a clear divulgative vocation. The Galacticat was born as an initiative to recover the universal Sci-Fi classics for the general public and to delve into this culture that has articulated the universe of cinema since its inception. Over the years, the Galacticat has grown, involving citizens more and more in this film festival, gradually increasing the programmed activities, parties, concerts, screenings, public attendance, industry activities and the response of the film industry.

1) XI GALACTICAT accepts real image or animation fiction and documentariy short films produced between 2023 and 2024 with a maximum duration of 30 minutes submitted by both professional and amateur filmmakers under or older than 18 years. You can compete in five categories: Fantastic, Free Genre, Animation, Terror and Documentary.

XI GALACTICAT FILM FEST accepts too real image or animation fiction feature films produced between 2023 and 2024 with a maximum duration of 150 minutes. You can compete in two categories: Best Feature Film and Best Documentary Film.

2) Selection. A selection committee will decide which films will participate in the Festival at its own discretion. The committee is not obliged to justify its decision. The committee’s decision will be final.

3) Film language. The festival has an international character so films originary from any country in the world can be accepted and selected, but FILMS IN ANY language OTHER THAN SPANISH OR CATALAN MUST HAVE SPANISH OR CATALAN subtitleS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR INCLUSION. If you have no choice to translate your dialogs, you can submit your film and send your dialogs to us. If the film is selected we will translate your dialogs so you can embedd spanish subs to your film, for free.

4) Screening format. For screening purposes, selected films must be available on digital files (H.264). We will build our own DCP.

5) Filmmakers must send a press kit with three hi-resolution photos and a poster if they are selected for screening their work.

6) Organizers assume that people registering works have the rights for exhibition of the works they register in the festival, as well as authorization to receive the prize. In any case, organizers waive to the responsibility that may be derived from breach of this term.

The films selected in one of the Official Sections and therefore with opportunities to win the award for the best film in their section and the financial prize, will not receive a fee for the exhibition rights of the same during the celebration dates of the festival. If the film is programmed in any of the Parallel Sections, the Festival will pay the fee marked by the distribution company.


7) Participation in the festival assumes partial sharing of the film (2 minutes maximum) for promotional purposes of the festival. The contact information provided by the participants may be used by the organization to publicize actions related to the Festival and its organizers.

8) For the award of prizes, the winner MUST be present in the awards ceremony or send a video expressing his/her gratitude for the prize.

9) Dead line. From the day the registration time ends, no registration shall be made.

10) The organization has the right to rule on all cases not foreseen by these regulations.

11) Participants accept the programming of their works during the event of the Festival. In addition, if the organization considers it interesting, the participants may receive an invitation for their works to be part of the online program, as long as the current edition has a hybrid format. The programming or not of the work on the online platform will be taken jointly between the organization and the film team and the conditions of this programming will depend on each edition and the platform used for this purpose.

12) Participants accept the programming of their works during the different Off-Festivals scheduled before and after the date of the Festival. These programs will allow the projection of the works within specific programs that will involve advances and reruns of the Festival and that will lead to the automatic selection of the works. In addition, these screenings will count for the audience award, which will decide the best work in each official section, at the discretion of audience.





  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
