Festival start: 27 August 2021      Festival end: 12 September 2021

The reason for this letter is to invite you to be part of the fifth version of our AricaDoc. The call for entries will be open until May 9st, and the festival will be held between August 27th and September 12th of this year.

We are looking for works that represent the vibrant formal and thematic diversity of documentary cinema, feeding the reflection on the forces faced in the contemporary world
and the accelerated metamorphosis that characterize our societies.

We are aware of the obstacles faced in their production and distribution by those films that go beyond industrial mandates and official narratives. AricaDoc wants to be a port for these works, offering a refuge where non-fiction cinema can manifest itself in freedom.

Faced with the intrinsic difficulties of the times, we invite you to sail together. We believe that in order to navigate the present, the best way to do so is collectively. Our commitment is to offer a space for you, your films and the communities of audiences, to meet again around filmmaking.

AricaDoc does not pursue profit, guaranteeing free access to the films for all audiences. For obvious reasons, the festival will be carried out through a virtual platform, evaluating when the time comes the realization of on-site screenings to ensure the welfare of all participants.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Although AricaDoc is conceived as a non-competitive event, we
want to leave in the hands of the public the selection of those works that for various reasons stand out during the festival. This is an opportunity for the community to express itself and recognize the work of the filmmakers. Therefore, the distinctions in the categories will be the following:

Feature Films

- Audience Award - Best Feature Film

Medium-length and Short Films

- Audience Award - Best Short Film or Medium-length Film

a) Documentary films produced anywhere in the world and completed as of January 2019 are eligible.

b) Films of any length will be accepted.

c) Those films with voices or texts that are not in Spanish should preferably have subtitles in that language or, failing that, in English. In the latter case and if selected, the authors must submit a transcript of the film for translation by the festival team.

Entries will be open between April 12 and May 9, 2021. Applicants must register their films by completing the application form available on the website or through the platform

By submitting the application form, the director and/or producer declares that he/she owns the intellectual property rights and/or exploitation rights of the work. The organization is not responsible for any infringement of the respective laws in this regard.

All films received will be reviewed by our programming team. Those selected will be published at the beginning of August 2021 on the Festival's website and social networks, and those selected will be notified via email.

The accepted exhibition formats for all categories will be Apple ProRes 422 HQ digital files, 23.97 fps, 5.1 or 2.0 sound, 1920 x 1080p resolution, Spanish subtitles with a maximum of two lines per dialogue. Other formats will not be accepted.

Selected works must send the following materials:

a) 3 photographs of the film (300 dpi).
b) 1 photograph of the director and producer (300 dpi)
c) Official poster
d) 1 promotional sequence or clip.
e) Optional materials (Press kit, original music tracks, etc.).

These materials may be published on the Festival's website and social networks for promotional purposes. In the case of texts and audios, they could be used for press, radio and TV broadcasting.
