RURÉFILOS, International Film and Rural World Festival is a multidisciplinary meeting point in which, through audiovisual language, a space is provided for debate and creative reflection on the past, present and future of the rural world.
The RURÉFILOS Awards Ceremony will take place within the framework of the celebration of the festival activities.
Among the ten finalist short films selected, a First Prize is established per category (fiction and documentary).
The First Prize will consist of an exclusive work of art, made by renowned artists for the occasion, a diploma and local products courtesy of the sponsors.
Likewise, and during the projections, the vote of the attendees will be facilitated, establishing a Special Audience Award that will consist of a bonus to enjoy a leisure experience in the area.
In the event that the short film selected by the public coincides with the short films awarded by the jury, the Special Audience Award will be awarded to the next short film in obtaining points.
None of the prizes may be declared void or awarded ex aequo. The jury's decisions will be unappealable.
REGISTRATION CONDITIONS IN RURÉFILOS
Those producers or directors of any nationality who own the rights to the works they present may participate.
Two categories of participation are established:
1. Fiction: Short films whose main theme, development space or story content have the rural environment and/or the small towns of the rural environment as significant elements, and address in some way the approaches expressed in the objectives section.
2. Documentary: Short films whose main theme addresses any aspect related to the rural environment with a culture, development and sustainability perspective, incorporating any of the approaches expressed in the objectives section.
OBJECTIVES
The dissemination, conservation, defense and future projection of the tangible and intangible heritage of the rural world in any of its manifestations.
The visibility of initiatives, projects and narratives that are committed to the development and sustainability of the rural environment, respecting, promoting and valuing its cultural heritage and that of its creators.
The empowerment of people in their role as narrators, facilitating the connection with their own poetic resources to express their experiences and their relationship with the environment. The value of the image as a universal language.
Intergenerational exchange and horizontal participation in a necessary and essential debate on the future of the rural world.
The revitalization of the rural environment through the celebration of this initiative, rare in small towns, and that can be "a window to the world" for the population or association that finally wishes to welcome it.
The vindication of the transformative power of creativity.
FORMATS
In order to encourage non-professionals from the audiovisual world to participate in RURÉFILOS, the works may be recorded using any recording medium, as long as the image quality reaches a minimum quality. This includes mobile phone cameras.
LANGUAGES
The short films may be in any language in the world, as long as they include subtitles in Spanish.
PRODUCTION DATE AND DURATION
The short films presented must have been produced after January 1, 2019.
The duration of the works presented to categories 1 and 2, fiction and documentary, may not exceed 30 minutes.
Each author or producer may submit a maximum of two works in total to the Festival.
INSCRIPTION
Registration will be done through the platform www.festhome.com It will be necessary to fill in the corresponding registration form and upload the short film file for pre-selection.
Deadline for registration and submission of short films:
From March 9 to April 30, 2022.
SELECTION
Of the total number of short films received in competition, the jury will select ten, five from each category (documentary and fiction).
The organization of the contest will contact the authors to request, if necessary, the short film in high quality format for its projection.
The selected short films will be screened during the celebration of the activities scheduled at the Festival, whose date is scheduled for June 9-12, 2022.
The Short Film Festival Awards Ceremony will take place within the framework of the activities that will take place throughout the Festival.
The filmmakers/producers, or failing that, a representative, of the winning short films who reside less than 150 km from the venue must attend the Festival, otherwise the short film will be disqualified. This clause does not apply to international short films or from other parts of Spain.
The presentation of a short to the contest supposes the acceptance of the bases.
The winning shorts and their authors will be announced to the media.
JURY
The jury will be made up of a combination of locally relevant personalities and professionals from the artistic and cinematographic fields, chosen by the festival management.
AWARDS

In response to the desire to promote the richness and diversity of the rural world, the awards will be closely linked to the various artistic and cultural manifestations of the environment, and may be of an artistic, gastronomic, craft, experiences, or other nature that may be considered relevant and related to the festival spirit.
