CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
9th MUESTRA DE CINE DE LANZAROTE

INTRODUCTION

Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote is a film festival organized by Asociación de Cine Tenique, a not-for-profit organization whose main goal is to promote, diffuse and exhibit independent films.

The 9th Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote will be held from 21 November to 1 December 2019 in various locations on the island of Lanzarote.

CATEGORIES

The 9th Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote is divided into two sections open to public call:

- The Official Section of Feature-length Films, open to fiction and non-fiction feature-length films from any country or nationality, with a prize of 2000 euros and statuette

- The Cruce de caminos: Filmmakers from the Canaries Section, open to fiction and non-fiction short films produced and/or filmed in the Canary Islands or directed by filmmakers born or resident in the Canary Islands, is not a competitive category

GENERAL CONDITIONS

All entries shall be produced after 1 January 2018 and shall not have been distributed commercially in film theatres or in home-cinema supports (Blu-ray, DVD or Internet) in Spain.

Entering a film for the festival implies full acceptance of these conditions.

SPECIFIC CONDITIONS

Conditions for the Official Section of Feature-length Films

The competition is open to fiction and non-fiction feature-length films from any country or nationality.

For the purposes of this competition, a feature-length film is any film with a duration of 40 minutes or more.

There shall be one single prize for Best Film in the Official Section, whose winner shall receive 2.000 euros and a statuette, and the prize shall not be declared void. The prize money shall be subject to tax deductions legally in force at the time of payment, and said deductions are included within the prize money.

The Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote shall conserve a copy of the prize-winning film for its archives, and may exhibit it twice within its annual programme with a not-for-profit cultural purpose.

The organisation of the Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote shall appoint a jury with a minimum of three members and a maximum of five members, whose decision is final. Members of the jury shall not have any interests in the production, distribution or any form of exploitation of the films selected for the competition.

The Director and/or a representative of the Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote may be present during the deliberations of the jury, having the right to speak but not to vote.

The prize-winning film shall include the logotype of the Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote in the opening credits of each copy of the film exhibited following the conclusion of the festival, both in copies for commercial film theatres as well as copies for home-cinema supports (Blu-ray, DVD or Internet), as well as in any kind of material used to promote the film.

The prize money shall be paid following the signing of an agreement between the organisation of the festival and the producers of the prize-winning film, which specifies the fulfilment of these conditions.

During the Muestra de Cine de Lanzarote the organisation may exhibit the selected films on a maximum of two occasions, with the exception of the prize-winning film, which may be exhibited on three occasions. For this purpose, the producers shall cede the rights for the public exhibition of the films for the duration of the festival, without any cost.

Conditions for the Section Cruce de caminos: Filmmakers from the Canaries

The section Cruce de caminos: Filmmakers from the Canaries is open to short films produced and/or filmed in the Canary Islands or directed by filmmakers born or resident in the Canary Islands. This condition must be accredited with official documentation.

For the purposes of this competition, a short film is any film with a duration of 30 minutes or less.

The section Cruce de caminos: Filmmakers from the Canaries is not a competitive category. The films chosen to take part in this category shall receive a gross fee of 60 euros for exhibition rights.
