Festival start: 16 April 2022      Festival end: 26 April 2022

DESCRIPTION of the Festival
After four successful editions in constant growth, this edition, the 5th, becomes the most important since it is the one most linked to the island of Ibiza and its Heritage.
Ibicine is a festival born out of love for cinema and the island of Ibiza and that is committed to emerging Spanish talent, those who now make short films and who are the future of our cinema.
Ibicine is a festival organized within the activities with which it seeks to generate this meeting point for cinema on the island, programmed by IACI - Ibicine Cinematographic Association of Ibiza - and it is possible thanks to the constant support of island institutions such as the City Council of 'Eivissa, the Consell d'Eivissa and the Town Hall of Santa Eulària.
It is thanks to them and to companies that join in every year that this cultural meeting in Ibiza is now a must for every movie fan.
The Ibiza Ibicine Festival seeks to enhance the short film, rewarding by categories each of the technical and artistic aspects that have a place in a film production.
Ibiza is the perfect place to disconnect from routines and big cities, making it a perfect setting for this meeting to generate new projects, conferences, courses and ultimately create culture and film school.
In addition to this, it seeks to promote professional cinema on the island, so that a meeting point is generated with industry professionals to generate relationships within the sector and it does so through the Ibiza Film Market in which creators and buyers meet and doors are opened, contracts are closed, learning and industry are generated. Ibiza is the perfect place to disconnect from routines and big cities, making it a perfect setting for this meeting to generate new projects, conferences, courses and ultimately create culture and film school.
For all this, Ibicine receives the UNESCO award as a representative of the Movie Travel cinematographic tourism routes in 2018.
But that's not all, because Ibicine has proven to be supportive by allocating the proceeds of the proceeds to the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Abandoned Dogs Foundation of Ibiza (Sa Coma), and in this edition it takes another step in caring for our Heritage, especially of our seabed. (More information on page 8)
The 5th edition of Ibicine is going to be a very special edition as it will be sponsored for the first time by the international actress PAZ VEGA, a reference in Spanish cinema, and the actor Jon Plazaola, who is already a lifetime godfather of this Ibiza festival. It is also the "greenest" edition and more linked to the territory, in which specific actions related to learning, caring for and filming on the Posidonia Oceànica, an endemic plant of the Mediterranean Sea, will take place. In addition, international parallel sections are opened precisely oriented to the oceans and in which the Eucerin brand, very aware of caring for the planet through the formulas of its products without microplastics, will deliver an award.

5) AWARDS AND FIGURES
The award for each of the official section categories will be a statuette, an Astarte award. In addition, this year the best short film of the jury will also receive a financial prize of € 250 to the director and producer of the short film.
5.1. FIGURE - ASTARTÉ AWARD
Tanit, the goddess of Ibiza, was the most important goddess in Carthaginian mythology, the consort of Baal and patron saint of Carthage. It was equivalent to the Phoenician goddess Astarte, who represented the cult of mother nature, life and fertility, as well as the exaltation of love and carnal pleasures.
The statuettes, designed by the Madrid-based sculptor living in Ibiza, Andrés Herráez Sánchez de las Matas, represent the gaze of the goddess on celluloid, as a metaphor for the stories that the magic of cinema brings to life.
5.2. ASTARTÉ AWARDS GALA
All the awards from the official sections will be presented at the Astarté Awards Gala, which will be held on April 23, 2022 at the Can Ventosa Cultural Center, Ibiza.
The event will be inaugurated with the Ibicine Red Carpet where renowned actors and filmmakers from our country will parade, as well as producers, televisions, platforms and will be attended by national media.

Ibicine is a short film festival that awards feature films and does so by delivering theBest Feature Film award in honor of the filmmaker Antonio Isasi-Isasmendi, director and producer based on the island, who died in 2017.

Isasi always helped the Ibizan filmmaker. He was a member of the jury of several festivals, but he presided over Berlin, San Sebastián and Malaga.

PARALLEL SECTION 1: SEA BEDS
INTRODUCTION:
Between Ibiza and Formentera is the largest oceanic posidonia meadow in the world that constitutes the longest living being on the planet. Belonging to the Posidoniaceae family, it is often confused for its similarity to algae, but the truth is that it is an endemic plant of the Mediterranean and that it owes its name to the god of the sea, Poseidon.
In 1999 it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its value and multiple benefits for the environment,it protects the coast from erosion and serves as a “home” for hundreds of animal and plant organisms that live within it and feed on it to survive.
Considered one of the most threatened ecosystems on the planet, the oceanic posidonia is disappearing little by little since this species only grows in pollution-free and well-oxygenated waters. It has already lost more than a quarter of its size due to human environmental and mechanical causes - activities such as illegal trawling, landfills, aquaculture remains, intensive free anchoring and even some water sports are preventing its correct growth and deterioration of its borders. As a consequence, there is a loss of biodiversity and a deterioration of water, giving rise to depopulated marine areas.
That is why, in this edition, from Ibicine we immerse ourselves in the seabed to make visible the importance of caring for our seas and oceans around the world.
SECTION CHARACTERISTICS:
Fiction, animation or documentary short films, free themed, of any nationality (whether Spanish or foreigners) that deal with marine themes, from anywhere in the world, whether they are vindictive or not.
