The cultural organisation “Nouveaux Espaces Latinos” is now preparing the 15th edition of the festival “Documental - L’Amérique latine par l’image”. It will take place at Lyon in France from 22 to 27 November 2021 and will be the first post-Covid edition.

This festival dedicated exclusively to documentaries on Latin America is unique in Lyon, the city where cinema was born in 1895, but also in France. Since the beginning in 2007, the festival wishes to share the realities, cultures, and issues that animate the Latin American continent. This week of free screenings is an opportunity to introduce the public to the different views of directors from all over the world on Latin America

We invite you to register your full-length documentary film on Latin America, before 28 February 2021.

Premios en Metálico: 500€

The selected documentaries will be in competition to win:

- The jury prize (300 euros)
- The public choice prize (200 euros)

To be accepted, the documentaries must be between 52 and 70 minutes long. The films must have been made after January 1st 2019.
May participate any natural or juridical person, individually or collectively, of any nationality and any age.

The documentaries must have Latin America as its theme, and any topic is accepted (Human rights, environment, culture, history…).
The selection team will base its decision on the originality of the topic and the quality of the work and the images.

For the pre-selection, the festival requires a link to watch the documentary online via Vimeo, YouTube… The documentaries may be subtitled in English, French or Spanish.
IMPORTANT: In the case of being selected, we will require a version subtitled in French before May 31st 2021.

The people who submit a film acknowledge to possess all rights to the film and authorize the free exhibition (once or twice if it is awarded) within the framework of the festival, and waives any financial retribution to this concept. The festival’s goal is to reach as many people as possible and does not charge for tickets.

The festival will inform the directors and/or producers of the selected films by June 15th 2021.
The organization of “Documental” reserves the right to register any material that may be of interest, with a production date previous to the proposed one.

IN CASE OF SELECTION
The directors and/or producers must engage to send a Vimeo link of the original version of the film with French subtitles.
The link must be submitted before September 1st 2021.
The required viewing formats are:
- Apple ProRes File
- File H264
- MP4 + un ficher SRT
Other viewing formats may eventually be accepted by the teams of the festival.
The festival favors the files sent online, on platforms such as WeTransfer or Smash (https://fromsmash.com/). Smash is a French platform in which is possible to send files without size limit, sign-up and free.
