The Mountain Film Festival of Palma (Mallorca) opens the 2026 call for the competitive section of short films, which aims to promote and promote short films about mountains (alpinism, expeditions, climbing, speleology,...), nature and ethnography associated with mountains.

o BALEARIC MOUNTAIN AND CLIMBING FEDERATION AWARD
€500 to the best mountain short film

o KENIA OUTDOOR AWARD
€500 to the best mountain nature or ethnography short film

Palma Mountain Film Festival (Mallorca) open the 2026 call for entries for the competitive short film section, which will be governed by the following rules:


1. TOPICS

• Films with mountain-related themes: mountaineering, expeditions, climbing, trekking, caving, mountain and adventure sports, nature, biodiversity, ethnography, etc. are eligible to participate.


2. PARTICIPATION

• Participation is open to teams and individuals of any nationality who are aged 18 and over.


3. Awards

o COLONYA AWARD
€500 to the best mountain short film by audience vote

o BALEARIC MOUNTAIN AND CLIMBING FEDERATION AWARD
€500 to the best mountain short film

o KENIA OUTDOOR AWARD
€500 to the best mountain nature or ethnography short film

The jury may award special mentions to the films it deems appropriate.

Cash prizes are subject to the applicable withholding tax.

Any of the categories may be declared void of a winner.


4. CONDITIONS

• Only one proposal per person or team may be submitted.

• Films may not exceed 30 minutes in length.

• Advertising material will not be accepted.

• Animated films may be submitted.

• The date the short film was completed must be after 1 January 2024.

• Proposals may be silent, in Catalan, Spanish or other languages (when in other languages, preferably subtitled in Catalan or Spanish; either embedded or in a subtitle file with timecode (.SRT) for the whole film and dubbing in sign languages.

• Short films must be presented in the following formats:

o HD video: .mp4; Audio: .aac
o HD video: .mov; Audio: .aac

5.SUBMISSIONS

• The deadline for submission is May 15th.

• Submissions are free of charge.

• Short films must be submitted via festhome.com.


6. SELECTION

• The jury will determine the official selection, which will be screened at the 17th Palma Mountain Film Festival 2026. It will also choose the award winners, except for the audience award.

• The jury's decision will be published on the MCMP website, on social media and wherever it is deemed appropriate.

• The organisation will reject any material with obscene, violent, sexist, xenophobic or racist content or that violates any fundamental rights.

• The jury's and audience decision will be final.


7. PROJECTION OF THE SELECTED SHORT FILMS

• The official selection (which will include the award-winning short films) will be screened at the 17th Palma Mountain Film Festival 2026.

• The screening will take place in live format and it might be online through the platform that organisation decides.

• Both the award-winning and the other selected short films will be advertised on the MCMP's official website and social media, as well as any other media deemed appropriate.

• No payment will be made for screening rights or fees.

• The short films that form part of the official selection may be screened by the organisation at other cultural initiatives.


8. OBSERVATIONS

• The participant guarantees that he/she is the exclusive owner of the intellectual property rights to the film submitted. He/she also guarantees that there are no legal, contractual or other limitations that would reduce the organisation's ability to publicly exhibit the work submitted. He/she also declares that he/she has the relevant authorisation from any persons or entities that own the rights to the different elements appearing in the work submitted, such as music, images, graphics, etc. The participant undertakes to release the organisation of the MCMP from any liability regarding possible claims, which, in matters of copyright, may be brought by third parties. All parties accept the jurisdiction of the Courts and Tribunals of Palma (Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain).

• The participant authorises the organisation to use frames, photographs and extracts (maximum 3 min.) from the film in any communication or promotional media in order to promote and publicise the MCMP.

• Participation in this festival implies the acceptance of these rules
