The Sport Film Festival promotes the diffusion of sport films and videos that, in different ways and in different productive forms, contribute to the development of artistic and cultural trends of the World cinema.

The end is to promote the best quality of the productions of sport images; to stimulate, thanks to the mass media and the participation of the school and university, the interest in sport and cinema, fostering didactic-cultural meetings and stimulating the study, the discussion and the knowledge of cultural and creative problems typical of these two media.

43° Paladino d’Oro SportFilmFestival – Regulation/Regolamento

Art. 1 – ORGANIZERS
The Paladino d’oro Sport Film Festival (SFF) is organized by Toros Centro di Comunicazione Visiva, that nominated yearly a Movie Commission to select the best films focused on sports. The Festival is directed by Roberto Oddo.

Art. 2 – PURPOSE
The SFF wants to promote the values of sport (respect for rules, fair play, overcoming limits, team play, etc.) through the best films all over the world that are focused on sports. The “SFF promotes the diffusion of sport films that, in different ways, contribute to the development of artistic and cultural trends in the cinema business. The goal is to promote the best quality in sports films; to stimulate, thanks to the mass media and the partnership with schools and universities, the interest in sport and cinema, fostering didactic-cultural meetings.

Art. 3 – WHEN AND WHERE (Sport Movie Week)
The 43st Paladino d’oro SFF will be held in Palermo from November 2023. The festival program includes film screening, meetings with productions, conference and awards ceremony. The SFF ends with the awards ceremony (Grand Gala). During the Grand Gala the prize named “PALADINO D’ORO” will be assigned to the best films in competition; the direction can be assign some special “PALADINO D’ORO” to the most important figures of movie and sports.

Art. 4 – ADMISSIBILITY
All films produced between 2019 and 2023 with sport as main topic can participate to the SFF. Films that have already participated in the SFF are excluded.

Art. 5 – REGISTRATION
The registration is active between the November, 2022, due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the organizing committee has postponed the registration deadline to June 30, 2023. If by June 2023, the registered productions do not comply with all the requests of the organization, they will be automatically excluded. To complete the registration, after completing the online form, producers must send the following material no later than June 2023 to: production@sportfilmfestival.it:

– 1 copy of the movie file in HD MP4 or better quality subtitled in Italian or English;
– a 2-minute (max) file of the trailer in HD MP4 or better quality subtitled in Italian or English;
– a summary (synopsis) of the film in English and Italian.
– a bio film of the director and / or the main actors;
– a good resolution poster
– the Regulations Form, printed, completed and signed, for the free use of all the material provided for publications, for the Official Catalog, for the Press Office and for the promotion of the SFF.
– The payment of 50 euros for the secretarial expenses contribution by bank transfer, to: TOROS CCV – Via Olivella, 32 – 90100 Palermo – IBAN: IT60X0306909606100000164071. Or with paypal with paypal to robertooddo9@gmail.com. If the film’s documentation is incomprehensible or incomplete, the film will be excluded from the SFF.

Art. 6 – SELECTION
The Festival Commission has foreseen a first phase, which provides for the selection of all the films entered, the final communication of the selection, will take place by September 2023. A second phase for the admission to the nominations and the assignment of the nominations, which will take place by October 2023.

All the selected films are invited to the festival, the organization will pay a stay for two people in the Hotel in B&B formula for the night of November 2023. The second phase includes the assignment of nominations. The nominations will be revealed on October 2022, with publication on the festival website www.sportfilmfestival.org. Here are the award categories for nominated films: Best Feature Film – Best Short Film – Best Olimpyc Film – Best Paralympic Film – Best Football Film – Best Documentary – Best Fiction – Best Director – Best Leading Role – Best Picture – Best Editing – Best Screenplay – Best Sound Mixing – The Commission will award further special prizes to the nominated films: Special Prize Other Cinema – Special Prize E-Sport Film – Special Social Award – Special Prize School & University – Special Award ” Vito Maggio “

Art. 7 – SOCIAL AWARD
The “Social Award” is the only “Paladino d’Oro” awarded by the public. All the trailers of the films selected by the Management will be published on the official website and on the official social pages of the Festival. The winning trailer will be the one with the most views on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, the final total of all views will be counted on October , 2023, views obtained after this date will not be valid. Art. 8 –SCREENING OF NOMINATED FILMS
The nominated films that will be present in Palermo with at least one representative of the production at the awards ceremony, will be screened at the festival, the projection billboard will be published on October 2023, on the festival website. Films not represented at the festival during the ceremony will not be screened. Films not represented at the festival during the ceremony will not be screened.

Art. 9 – UTILIZATION OF PARTICIPATING FILMS AND COPYRIGHTS
The films will be used by the festival exclusively for cultural ends and promotional ends of the SFF, before, during and after the SFF, also in collaboration with Public authorities, private society, media, schools, universities, etc. For a further promotion, the participating films can be shown during other events. They cannot be supplied for other uses without the expressed authorization of the producer. Who enters his/her film to the festival declares him/herself owner of it according to this Regulation and undersigning the Regulation, he/she authorizes:
the maximum distribution of the film (it means that it’s not subjected to any right or to other compensations);
the vision of the film by the delegates, accredited journalists, observers, pubblic etc.
the deposit, in SFF’s archive, of the copies of the film only for study, as documentation and for institutional activities.
The participants will directly be responsible for any demands or claims of reimbursement by third parts, as they have entered their films to the SFF. The TOROS CCV has the right to use the names of the participants to the Festival for its own promotional activity.

Art. 10 – GENERAL RULES
The productions of the films that will have obtained the selection, will be entitled to hospitality in the hotel for one night in B&B (in november 2023) for two persons indicated by the production of the film, on the occasion of the ceremony of delivery of the Paladini d’Oro of November 2023, at Teatro Politeama and their transfer to and from airport, further stays will be charged for the productions of the films. The productions that will not be present at the final ceremony, will not be entitled to any prize. Any cases in dispute and anything not mentioned in this regulation will be governed exclusively by Italian law. Final decisions are the responsibility of the Directorate of the SFF. For any complaint concerning the meaning of the articles of this Regulation, only the original text in Italian of the Regulation published on the official website of the Sports Film Festival shall constitute the basis for any dispute.

Art. 11 – UPDATES
The TOROS CCV reserve the right to make decisions on matters not specified herein. The CCV can change this Regulation at any time and without notice.
