REGULATIONS
1. THE FESTIVAL
INTERSECCIÓN – A Coruña International Film Festival supports the freest currents of auteur cinema. Its programme showcases independent films created through risk and innovation and offers audiences the opportunity to experience bold and vibrant works.
The festival explores new cinematic languages and defends courage, diversity and curiosity in creation.
2. SECTIONS AND awards
2.1. INTERNATIONAL
Section dedicated to a selection of international works.
Accepted formats: feature films, medium-length films and short films of fiction, animation or non-fiction that fall within any of the following categories: auteur cinema, creative documentary, experimental and avant-garde cinema, video creation, animation, etc.
2.2. FULGOR
Section aimed at emerging Spanish talent.
Accepted formats: feature films, medium-length films and short films of fiction, animation or non-fiction that fall within any of the following categories: auteur cinema, creative documentary, experimental and avant-garde cinema, video creation, animation, etc.
2.3. GALICIA
Section for works produced in Galicia or created by Galician filmmakers or filmmakers residing in Galicia.
Accepted formats: feature films, medium-length films and short films of fiction, animation or non-fiction that fall within any of the following categories: auteur cinema, creative documentary, experimental and avant-garde cinema, video creation, animation, etc.
2.4. OFFICIAL awards

The juries may grant special mentions. No award may be declared void.
Winners may include the official laurels provided by the Festival in opening titles, on websites, posters, creative materials and any other public communications.
Prize amounts are expressed inclusive of any applicable taxes.
The rights holder shall be the party responsible for issuing the invoice for the prize.
The Fulgor Section and the Galicia Section are funded by the A Coruña City Council.
3. JURIES
The INTERSECCIÓN juries, appointed by the Festival organization, will be composed of professionals with proven international careers. They will evaluate the submitted works and, by final and unappealable decision, grant the awards corresponding to the indicated competitive sections.
The Festival will notify the awards granted to the contact persons indicated during the submission process. prizes will be paid upon receipt of an invoice issued by the registered individual or company, or by another entity to whom this responsibility has been delegated. No prizes will be paid for invoices issued after October 31.
4. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
4.1. SUBMISSION OF WORKS
Works produced in 2025 or 2026 may be submitted.
Works of a television, commercial or advertising nature are expressly excluded. In any case, the Festival reserves the right to include in its selection works produced prior to these dates.
Works submitted to INTERSECCIÓN in previous editions will not be considered.
Although it is not mandatory for submitted works to be premieres, Spanish premieres will be positively valued.
The organization reserves the right to assign selected works to the category it deems appropriate. Once submitted, works may not be withdrawn from consideration or potential selection.
Each individual or company may submit as many works as desired, regardless of nationality or language. However, each work must be submitted independently.
The deadline for submitting works for competition is July 30, 2026.

The Festival does not guarantee acceptance or consideration of works submitted after the indicated deadlines.
Postal submissions in physical formats such as DVD, tape or hard drive will not be accepted.
Works submitted whose language is not Galician or Spanish must include subtitles in one of these languages or in english.

4.2. SELECTION
The Festival will notify the selection of works to the contact persons specified in the submissions. The list of selected works will be published on the Festival’s website and social media approximately one month before the Festival begins. Until that time, the selection may not be made public.
If no selection notification is received from the Festival organization, this means that the work has not been selected. Nevertheless, every effort will be made to notify all applicants by email regarding the status of the evaluation of their work.
4.3. SELECTION CRITERIA
All works submitted to the Festival will be considered, provided they meet the requirements established in these regulations and have been fully and correctly submitted.
5. EXHIBITION WORKS
5.1. DELIVERY OF WORKS
The deadline for delivery of selected works for participation in the Festival is August 31, 2026. Any work not received within the established timeframe may be removed from the final programme by the Festival.
Screening copies must be available in one of the following formats:
DCP, of professional quality and produced by a professional laboratory. Digital delivery is preferred. If delivery is made on physical media, shipping and collection costs shall be borne by the participant.
16mm or 35mm.
Digital file (.mov or .mp4). Minimum resolution: 1920 × 1080; maximum bitrate: 50,000 kbps; AAC audio; subtitles in english, Galician and/or Spanish in .srt format and/or dialogue sheet.
If no copies are available in any of the required screening formats, the Festival organization must be contacted immediately after selection notification.
If the DCP is password-protected, a valid KDM key must be provided.
The screening copy must be free of subtitles, except when subtitled in Galician or Spanish (mandatory when dialogues are not in either of these languages). Copies with embedded subtitles in any other language will not be accepted. For specific cases involving other languages, please contact the Festival organization.
For DCP or film formats, a digital backup copy (ProRes or H.264) must be provided. The Festival will decide the screening format.
For installation works, video format is recommended using the same technical specifications described above, although the artist may choose the format that best suits the work. If physical materials are required, shipping costs shall be borne by the artist.
5.2. SCREENING AND PUBLIC COMMUNICATION RIGHTS
Works selected for official competitions will be publicly screened during the Festival, and it is assumed that participants authorize these screenings from the moment of submission.
Rights holders of works selected for competitive sections grant the Festival the right to screen them both during the Festival and in extraordinary activities held outside the Festival dates, exclusively for cultural or promotional purposes. As a general rule, these screenings will be notified to the rights holder.
The Festival organization reserves the right to show excerpts and trailers of selected works on television channels or through its website for promotional purposes (no more than 20% of the total duration or a maximum of 3 minutes).
Rights holders authorize the Festival to use the submitted informational materials for promotional purposes in the media and for inclusion on the website, catalogue and any other formats decided by the organization.
The organization assumes that participants are the rights holders of the submitted works or are authorized to act on their behalf. In any case, the organization shall not be held responsible for any infringements arising from this matter, which shall be the responsibility of the individual or company that submitted the work.
5.3. POSTAL SHIPMENTS
Applicants must cover the transport costs of screening copies of selected works. The label “NO COMMERCIAL VALUE” must be clearly displayed on the packages. Works shipped at the Festival’s expense will not be accepted and will be automatically returned to the sender.
6. EXCEPTIONS AND DISPUTES
The Festival organization (or its legal representatives) will resolve all cases not specified in these regulations and may grant special exemptions for specific and justified requests.
The organization reserves the right to cancel any submission or take any measures it deems appropriate in the event of a violation of the regulations or any behaviour that disrupts the course of the Festival.
In the event of a dispute, these regulations shall be governed by their own clauses and, where applicable, by Spanish law in force at the time. The parties agree to submit any disputes to the courts and tribunals of the city of A Coruña, waiving any other jurisdiction.
The organization reserves the right to alter, modify or suspend the INTERSECCIÓN programme at any time.
Participation in the INTERSECCIÓN calls, as well as participation in the Festival if selected, implies full and unconditional acceptance of these regulations.
