IV WomanInFan - Sitges Fanlab Short Film-Teaser Creation Competition Call for Entries

The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia presents its fourth call for entries to make a short film-teaser as part of the WomanInFan (Sitges FanLab) program. The objective of this initiative is to give visibility to female creators and incorporate them into fantastic genre filmmaking, proposing the creation of a piece destined to circulate around the audiovisual market, which will serve as a sample of an idea for a fantastic genre feature film.

WomanInFan expands its field of action to include film production in order to support the work done by female filmmakers within the fantastic genre industry.

The Evaluation Commission will select 10 projects from among all those submitted, out of which there will be one winner. The 9 runners-up and the winning project will have the right to participate in the Industry Sessions at the 58th Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia thanks to industry accreditation (except for private events).

WomanInFan - Sitges Fanlab Short Film-Teaser Award:

• Industry accreditation for 1 person.

• A 10,000 euro budget (VAT included), which will be allocated entirely to producing the winning short film-teaser.

• Support from the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in the project's production functions.

• Presentation of the project as part of the corresponding edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in the Industry section and/or at those sections that the Festival considers most advisable, com Sitges FanPitch.

• 2 nights of accommodation for the winner in order to attend the Sitges FanPitch with their winning project in this competition (the representatives will cover travel and food expenses).

III WomanInFan – Sitges Fanlab Residence Call for Entries

The Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia presents the III WomanInFan – Sitges FanLab training grant call for entries, as part of the WomanInFan program.

This Sitges Film Festival initiative for the visibility and incorporation of female creators in fantastic genre filmmaking proposes a new platform for female fantastic genre creators. It consists of a proposal for training in the through the residency format, which will take place during the 58th Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.


The Grant Includes:

• Accommodation, travel expenses and per diems during the entire 58th Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.

• Access to all Industry sessions at the 58th Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia.

• The selected applicants will receive intensive mentoring from leading experts in the film industry so that they can develop their projects in different facets. The mentoring and workshops will take place in Sitges during this year’s Festival.

• Training via mentoring, individual counseling from experts, screenings, Master Classes and workshops.

• The possibility of presenting the project as part of the corresponding edition of the Sitges - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in the Industry section and/or at those sections that the Festival deems most convenient.

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

• Commitment that the future feature film must be directed by a woman or women as well as the short film-teaser to be made with the award.

• Treatment of the script of the future feature film (maximum 10 pages, 4,000 words).

• Optional: Complete feature film script (that the self-conclusive short film-teaser that will be produced with the award will be based on). This element is not essential but will be positively evaluated.

• The project must be fictional fantastic genre (the documentary genre is not eligible).

• CV and bio-filmography of the director or directors.

• Brief dossier with a synopsis of the project, benchmark films and a description of the target audience.

• Video Pitch pitch about the film project (3 minutes maximum running time). Budget breakdown proposal based on the 10,000 euros to produce the short film-teaser.


Selection Criteria

• Originality and coherence of the project: 30 points.

• Director’s CV and bio-filmography: 10 points.

• Video Pitch: 30 points.

• Budget coherence: 10 points.

• Project Dossier (target audience, benchmarks, etc.): 20 points.


Evaluation Commission

The projects that meet all the requirements of the WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab short film-teaser call for entries will be assessed by a committee made up of the following members:

• Foundation’s Director General.

• Festival’s Artistic Director.

• Festival's Industry Area Manager.

• 2 members of the Festival's Selection Committee.


Participation Commitment

The project selected in the WomanInFan – Sitges Fanlab will receive a diploma accrediting it as the winner of the call for entries.

The organization will acknowledge the signer of these rules and regulations as the sole representative to negotiate all aspects related to the participation of the project and as the only person responsible vis-a-vis other companies or people who may participate in the production of the project.

The winning short film-teaser, and in the event that the corresponding feature film is made, the WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab logo must be included in both productions, as well as to all graphic and promotional materials thereof using the words:
" With the support of WomanInFan – Sitges FanLab."

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

• The director must have made at least one fantastic genre fiction short film and upload it or, failing that, show a reel of her previous audiovisual projects.

• The director must have a future fantastic genre fiction project (documentary genre is not eligible).

• Director's CV and filmography.

• Brief dossier with a synopsis of the future project, script treatment, benchmark films and description of the target audience.

• Video Pitch about the future project (3 minutes maximum running time).

• Project script. The script may be in its first draft.

• Letter of intent.

• European competition. All women must reside in Europe.


Selection Criteria

To be selected, candidates must meet all the requirements set out in the rules.

The projects will then be evaluated according to the following criteria:

• Originality and coherence of the project: 50 points.

• Director’s CV and filmography: 10 points.

• Video Pitch: 20 points.

• Project Dossier (target audience, benchmarks, etc.): 20 points.



Evaluation Commission

The candidates for the WomanInFan – Sitges FanLab Fantastic Residency will be assessed by a committee made up of the following members:

• Foundation’s Director General.
• Festival’s Artistic Director.
• Festival's Industry Area Manager.
• Representant de DAMA.


Participation Commitment

The three selected directors will receive a certificate of participation and agree to include their participation in the WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab in the credits of their future project
In the event that the corresponding project is carried out, the grant recipient agrees to add the WomanInFan - Sitges FanLab logo to the production credits, as well as to all graphic and promotional materials, using the words:
" With the support of WomanInFan – Sitges FanLab."
