The Loreto International Film Festival call Mexican and foreign filmmakers to register their film work for its first edition to be held from February 22 to 24, 2024 in the city of Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico; in its first two sections of official competition:

International short film
All Mexican and foreign fiction or documentary productions with free genre, technique and theme may be registered, which must be presented as the final cut of the year 2023, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes on screen including credits.

Mexican short film Loreto Beginnings
Fiction or documentary short films may be registered whose work is the original work of the professional director, where the production is only mexican with free themes and genres; which must be presented as the final cut from 2022 to 2023, with a maximum duration of 25 minutes. The short films will be admitted, even if they have been released or participated in other festivals. It must be verified by means of a letter from the executive production, where the nature of the director's first professional short film work is stated at the time of being selected.

The winners of the official competition will be awarded with the FICLO Sculpture, and diploma.The Jury may grant special mentions or recognize any department of the film.

This call is open from its publication and until November 1, 2023.

The productions must be completely finished in their final cut and corresponding to the year 2023 in the case of the International Short Film section and from the year 2022 to 2023, in the case of the Loreto Beginnings section. All films must be subtitled in english; and to Spanish in case they are spoken in a language other than Spanish.

All productions that comply with the general and particular bases may participate, except organizers, sponsors, collaborators, volunteers, juries, public officials as well as their direct relatives up to third line.
The selected productions may participate in simultaneous and extension activities, as the Organizing Committee deems appropriate, until the beginning of its next edition as part of the dissemination of the cinema that FICLO carries out, with or without prior notice to the corresponding production.

The productions will be selected by an expert jury in cinematography whose decision will be final, with the power to declare one or several categories as void.

The productions selected in our first official competition will be published on December 1, 2023 in the different official media of the festival. It is the obligation of those selected to communicate with the organizing committee to find out if they are selected or not.

The festival does not transport or host those selected to the venue or venues of the festival in any case, even if they result as winners, however, the committee can facilitate communication and even preferential rates with its commercial partners (without being an obligation of the festival). for the stay in the FICLO.

Full registration assumes acceptance of the terms and guidelines of this call by the participants.

Any situation not provided for in this call will be analyzed and resolved by the Organizing Committee no later than 2 business days, submitting a written request up to 48 hours before the start of the festival. The review of any case will not be admitted during, nor after the festival.
