Competitive section for feature films of fiction, documentary, animation, or essay, with any legal and cultural nationality, which, according to the Curatorial Committee's criteria, should be part of this section, conceived to promote encounter and dialogue among audiences in the neighborhoods of Cartagena. It gathers films of any genre or origin, as well as diverse and alternative modes of production, which respond, among others, and in a non-exclusive way, to community and collective dynamics. Works are expected to stimulate human, cultural, and social exchange, creating a bridge between auteur cinema and an open, inclusive, and accessible cinema for spectators of all ages.

The films selected in this category may be considered for the delivery of some transversal awards that will be communicated in March 2027, during the press conference of the 66th edition of the festival.

Section for short films with legal and cultural nationality from countries other than Colombia and Ibero-America (United States, Canada, non-Iberian Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania): fiction, documentary, essay, or animation.

The films selected in this category may be considered for the delivery of some transversal awards that will be communicated in March 2027, during the press conference of the 66th edition of the festival.

(S)paces of Time embarks on the search for cinematographic expressions without limits, including the duration of the works. For 2027, the focus is on innovative and ambitious forms of expression in cinema that explore the temporal possibilities of the cinematographic medium from narrative, material, conceptual, aesthetic, and acoustic perspectives.

Section for short-format works, made by students with Colombian nationality, from any university, school, or academic context in Colombia or abroad: fiction, documentary format, essay, or animation.

The works selected in this category may be placed in other sections within the final programming of the festival, if defined by the curatorial committee and the artistic direction.

Section for short films and/or feature films with Colombian legal and cultural nationality, which have been filmed in Cartagena and/or the Bolívar department as the main location, or produced by production companies or filmmakers established in Cartagena and/or the Bolívar department: fiction, documentary, essay, or animation. Audiovisual exercises and projects developed in schools, universities, or collectives relevant to the future of cinema in the city will also be considered.

This category will provide a monetary award to all selected projects. The total amount will be determined by the Festival and the partner providing the award and will be distributed equally among the selected projects. The amount allocated to each project and the payment method will be communicated once the total award has been confirmed and will be subject to applicable tax regulations in force.

Section for short films and/or feature films, fiction, documentary, essay, or animation, with Colombian legal and cultural nationality, which have been filmed in Colombian cities, towns, or territories with great deficiencies in cinematographic infrastructure and which, according to the curatorial committee's criterion, should be included in this section, designed to promote contact between the Festival audiences and the cinema from territories seeking opportunities to be exhibited.

The section recognizes the plurality of these cinematographies and seeks to contribute to broadening the dialogue around forms of representation, identity, and political agency in the contemporary world, as well as their place within the audiovisual ecosystem. This dialogue emerges from the historical and contemporary experiences of Latin America and the Caribbean and extends into a global conversation.
