The call is open to fiction, animation and documentary short films that contribute to a broad dialogue on the role of science in society. In this second edition, the festival will also include a special section devoted to Narratives on Nature.

Prêmios em dinheiro: 2,000€

Science Fictions Award for Best Work in Science and Society (€1,000 prize).

Science Fictions Award for Best Work in Science and Mental Health (€1,000 prize).

PARTICIPANTS
Individuals and legal entities may participate with fiction, animation and documentary short films produced from 1 January 2023 onwards and with a maximum running time of 30 minutes. There is no limit to the number of works each participant can submit.
Audiovisual works may address science as a central theme or integrate it implicitly into the narrative, showing how it permeates everyday life, collective decisions or social imaginaries, suggesting its influence through the stories, dynamics or conflicts of the characters.
In the selection process, special consideration will be given to works that:
Explore the interactions between science, society and culture from contemporary perspectives.
Raise critical, social or ethical issues linked to scientific and technological processes.
Incorporate diverse perspectives and inclusive narratives on the role of science in collective life.
Take formal and narrative risks in representing knowledge and science.
Particular value will be given to the capacity to generate debate, critical reflection and understanding of the role of science in contemporary life.
