Festival start: 10 September 2024      Festival end: 15 September 2024

#NarrarelFuturo: XI Film & New Media Festival is a meeting point for exhibition, training and industry where local, national and regional industry professionals interested in filmmaking and audiovisual in its most recent and interesting narrative and technical trends within the digital environment meet; transmedia, web and interactive documentaries, virtual reality (VR/AR/XR), webseries, artificial intelligence, futurisms, narratives and crowdsourcing/funding, vertical video and other film and new media concepts are some of the Festival's thematic axes.

Similarly, during the event, development and creation scenarios are carried out such as the #NewMediaLab, Ibero-American laboratory for the development of new media projects and the #HackathonVR360, which this year reaches its eighth edition.

We also open the doors to the Colombian and international creative industry to create meeting and conversation points around ongoing projects: 10 tips to #NarrarElFuturo, speed networking sessions and the launch of the Hispanic American Projects Database and the new media industry manual are some of the activities in which attendees from the industry area will be able to participate in this new version.

During the 11th version -which takes place from September 10 to 15 in person at various venues in Bogota (Colombia)- attendees will enjoy more than 65 hours of film and digital content, 100 hours of training scenarios, 40 international and national guests and a broad and diverse spectrum of topics, processes and projects under construction and development.

The confirmed prizes to be offered to winners of each section are:

- Statuette #NarrarElFuturo (#NarrarElFuturo)

- Diploma and Certificate

- Consultancies with experts related to the project in development categories.

*Other possible prizes with partners in the process of management.

Rules 11th #NarrarelFuturo: Film & New Media Festival
(Bogota, September 10th to 15th, 2024)

A question that arises year after year around the curatorship and general concept of our festival is “What is the future?” and the answers we find always lead us to more and better questions, feeding our curiosity and desire to explore the unknown. The future is still a scenario to be thought, built and relativized collectively.

For us as #NarrarElFuturo, the future is a place of thought, of construction, a physical and digital place that is narrated from the past and from the present, a place unexplored, chaotic, fragmented and at the same time magical and powerful. A meeting platform for the expression of visions, stories and perspectives related to what is to come and where creativity and imagination are our compasses, allowing us to address future issues from technological, social, cultural and environmental angles.

With the concept of “THE FUTURE” as the structural basis of our curatorial narrative, we maintain and enhance our two main sections: “Stories of the Future” and “The Future is Now”.

Both sections receive content in live action, animation and mixed formats and are open to any narrative genre.

“Tales of the Future”: Section focused on film projects (Short and Feature Films), where we are looking for films that talk about and connect with the future in many ways: fantasy films, futurism and science fiction - the most obvious ones - but also many other views of the future from the most varied formats, genres and themes.

The participating films must speak of the future, of the many possibilities that come in this new era, of all those possible universes that opened up with the quasi-end of the world that we have been living globally in recent years, speculative narratives, stories of innovation and technology and films that address and reflect on the most varied scenarios of human beings, society and its transformations. This section included 30 films in 2023

- Best Colombian Film*.
- Best Fiction Feature Film
- Best Fiction Short Film
- Best Documentary Feature Film
- Best Documentary Short Film
- Best Impact Film*.
*Feature and short films participate.

“The Future is Now”: Section focused on new media projects and digital narratives. This section includes projects that use technologies, trends or formats around the concept of “New Media”: Digital documentaries, Webseries, Transmedia Narratives, Immersive Experiences (VR/AR/MR), Podcast, vertical cinema, Afrofuturism, indigenous futurisms and collective projects (Crowdfunding/Crowdsourcing), among other trends to be explored. This section had 50 projects in 2023

- Best Digital Documentary (web/interactive/expanded)
- Best Webseries (Fiction and Documentary)
- Best Transmedia Narrative
- Best Immersive Experience (VR, AR, MR)
- Best Podcast (Fiction and Documentary)
- Best New Media Project in Development (Winner of #NewMediaLab)
- Best #NewMediaForGood Project
- Best Film and Artificial Intelligence experience
- Best Film for dome 180

- Projects in both categories can be submitted through the two official platforms: Festhome. Material and content received via email or other platforms will not be taken into account in the jury's evaluation.
- Both sections receive content in real image, animation or hybrid format and are open to any genre and duration as long as they comply with the concept defined in the festival's curatorial concept.
- The copies to be requested for each work selected for the festival must have a minimum resolution of Full HD format for cinematographic works or traditional audiovisual content (2D) and a minimum of 4K for VR works, Video 360 or other immersive formats.

- All selected participants whose work is in a language other than Spanish must provide a copy of their project with Spanish subtitles or dubbing. The costs of such subtitling or dubbing are the responsibility of each creator.
- The producers of the selected works agree to sign the exhibition rights assignment forms and to provide the various press and communication materials such as posters, trailers, technical specifications, press kits, and stills of the project, among others.
- Participants from selected Ibero-American countries agree that the general information of their selected work and materials will be included in the Ibero-American database of film and new media projects managed by #NarrarElFuturo.
- By registering their new media project and/or film, the filmmaker authorizes #NarrarElFuturo to use all promotional material submitted. This includes, but is not limited to, stills, descriptions, director's biography and screening history of the film in all media for the purpose of promoting and publicizing the festival. It is worth mentioning that #NarrarElFuturo may request authorization from the filmmakers to use fragments of the films in the official selection in television and Internet advertising. However, the festival will limit these fragments to less than one minute and will not authorize the television broadcast of any work without the direct consent of the filmmaker and/or producers.
- By entering the work in the Festival, it is understood that the person responsible for the work (whether director, producer or distributor) owns the distribution and copyright. The festival relies on the good faith of the participants and, in no case, is responsible for disputes related to music rights, image rights or authorship of the work and its components.
- We accept works with diverse, complex and challenging content, but we do not endorse those that are or encourage racist, sexist, misogynist, classist or homophobic reactions in any form. The future belongs to everyone and in our festival we accept, understand and value human beings equally.
