Zahir Raihan Film Institute is organizing the Matrbhasha Film Festival 2026. Contestants will create video content/short films and submit them to the film festival. The festival committee will review the video content/short films created by the designated jury members and select the first, second and third places in various categories, giving priority to talent and creativity.

A jury board has been formed with renowned artists and teachers related to film in various fields.

The jury board will select the films for the festival.

From the selected films, first, second and third place holders and winners in various categories will be confirmed.

The selected ones will be awarded a specified amount of money, a commemorative plaque and a certificate.

- Introduction

Zahir Raihan Film Institute is organizing the Matrbhasha Film Festival 2026. Contestants will create video content/short films and submit them to the film festival. The festival committee will review the video content/short films created by the designated jury members and select the first, second and third places in various categories, giving priority to talent and creativity.

- Goal

Matrbhasha Film Festival 2026 is a unique initiative that gives us an opportunity to celebrate the richness and diversity of our mother tongue. This initiative by Zahir Raihan Film Institute shows deep respect for our culture and heritage. This festival will showcase the beauty and diversity of our language through screening of films in different languages.

- Organizing organization

Zahir Raihan Film Society was established in the name of Zahir Raihan, one of the famous writers and filmmakers of the film movement of Bangladesh. It is a national film organization and a non-profit organization. This organization is registered with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The organization has been running an educational program called Zahir Raihan Film Institute under the film education program. Currently, film is a powerful international medium. We organize festivals every year with student films.

- Awards

A jury board has been formed with renowned artists and teachers related to film in various fields. The jury board will select the films for the festival. From the selected films, first, second and third place holders and winners in various categories will be confirmed. The selected ones will be awarded a specified amount of money, a commemorative plaque and a certificate.

- Venue and date of the festival

The festival will be held from February 1-3 at Cafe Vintage in Dhanmondi. Guests, film directors, teachers, and spectators will be present at the festival.

- Rules of Participation

Any filmmaker from Bangladesh will submit their video content/short film to this festival within the stipulated time. The film must be submitted with a story summary and poster design about the content. The video format will be HD. The short film/video content submitted must be the participant's own work and the music, sound, and visuals presented in the content will not infringe on any copyright or any third party rights. Participants will retain all ownership rights of the submitted film. Short films/video content created on mobile phones will also be accepted. Thematic films must be submitted by January 20, 2026.
