Festival start: 18 September 2026      Festival end: 25 September 2026

Oleaje Film Festival, organized by the Network of Museums of Manabí, invites filmmakers to participate in its first edition.

This festival aims to establish a platform for exhibition, training, and film production in the province of Manabí, promoting reflection on identity and territory through cinema.

In dialogue with its curatorial line, the 2026 edition, titled “Cinema is Alive!”, invites submissions of feature-length and short films—both fiction and documentary—that explore tangible and intangible heritage, such as gastronomy, music, festivities, traditional knowledge, the sea, and the ways of life that develop around it.

Special consideration will be given to works that examine how these cultural practices, together with the relationship to coastal and rural landscapes, shape memory, identity, and community, and that portray the life stories emerging from this territory between sea, mountains, and everyday life.

Cash Prizes: 500€

A symbolic prize of $500 will be awarded to the Best Feature Film and Best Short Film, as selected by the audience.

*The festival accepts short and feature-length films, both fiction and documentary.

*All films must align with the festival’s curatorial focus on territory, identity, and cultural heritage.

*Submissions must be completed through the designated platform before the official deadline.

*Films may be in any language; however, Spanish subtitles are required if the original language is different.

*Selected films grant the festival the right to screen the work during the event and in related non-commercial cultural activities (such as museum screenings or special programs).

*The submitter confirms that they hold the necessary rights to the film and all included materials (image, sound, music, etc.).

*The festival reserves the right to use excerpts, stills, and promotional materials from the selected films for communication and publicity purposes.

*Once selected, films cannot be withdrawn from the program.

*The decision of the selection committee is final.
