Festival start: 05 March 2027      Festival end: 13 March 2027

Tártaro Showcase is an open call by Tártaro Films, a Spanish film sales agency and distributor specialising in fantasy and horror/genre cinema, to find independent films that deserve a life beyond the festival circuit.

Every submission is reviewed by our programming team. Finalists and winners are offered something concrete: a proposal to join the Tártaro Films catalogue and, in Spain, to be taken to digital platforms such as Prime Video and Filmin, or wherever the film fits best. Net revenue generated is shared 50/50 between Tártaro Films and the rights holder. Winners are also proposed for an in-person screening at Sombra Festival (Murcia, Spain), where Tártaro Films is a collaborating partner, and for its Audience Award, subject to the festival’s confirmation and rules.

Everything is offered through an individual written agreement. Nothing is guaranteed by submitting, and distribution on any platform depends on that platform’s own acceptance.

WHAT WE ACCEPT
Short films and feature films in fantasy, horror, sci-fi, thriller and related genres, in any subgenre, from any year. Films in any language are welcome with English or Spanish subtitles.

WHAT YOU GET

Review by programmers who work daily with genre cinema and international sales
Official Selection laurel for selected films
Finalists and winners: a proposal to join the Tártaro Films catalogue
In Spain: a proposal to take your film to digital platforms (Prime Video, Filmin or wherever it fits best), with a 50/50 split of net revenue
Visibility with buyers and platforms through our catalogue and sales work, and sales opportunities depending on availability
Winners: a proposed in-person screening at Sombra Festival and eligibility for its Audience Award (subject to the festival’s confirmation and rules)
You keep all your rights. Submitting transfers nothing: finalists and winners receive an individual written agreement before anything is done with their film

All awards are decided by our programming team and jury, never by view counts.

- Official Selection: digital laurel and invitation to join the Tártaro Films showcase, subject to a signed agreement
- Jury Award – Best Short Film
- Jury Award – Best Feature Film
- Jury Special Mention

Selected films benefit from a revenue share on income generated through the showcase, as set out in each film's agreement.

Potential Distribution Opportunities

In addition to being featured in the showcase, some films may be considered for commercial distribution in Spain, including digital platforms such as Prime Video or Filmin and, where feasible, physical media. Each opportunity will be evaluated individually and will depend on rights availability, a separate agreement, and acceptance by the relevant platform.

1. Genre. We accept fantasy, horror and related genre films, in any subgenre.

2. length and year. Shorts and features, from any year of production.

3. language. Any language, with english or Spanish subtitles.

4. Rights. By submitting, you confirm you hold all necessary rights to the film, including music, footage and performer authorisations, and that the film can be exhibited online.

5. No transfer of rights. Submission only allows us to view the film for evaluation and to use the title, stills and trailer to promote the call. No distribution rights are granted by submitting.

6. Selection. Finalists and winners will be offered a written agreement stating the rights granted, territory (Spain), term, exclusivity (if any), revenue share, reporting and withdrawal conditions. Nothing is done with a film without a signed agreement.

7. Revenue share. 50% of the net revenue actually received for each film, with periodic statements, as set out in the agreement.

8. Platforms. Distribution on digital platforms in Spain (such as Prime Video, Filmin or others) is proposed, not guaranteed. It depends on the available rights, the technical requirements and the acceptance of each platform.

9. Sombra Festival. Winners will be proposed for screening at Sombra Festival (Murcia, Spain), where Tártaro Films is a collaborating partner. The screening and the Audience Award are subject to the festival’s confirmation and rules. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, travel and accommodation are not covered.

10. Jury. Decisions are final. awards are decided by our programming team and jury.

11. Fair evaluation. Artificial inflation of views, likes or comments is grounds for disqualification.

12. Privacy. Submission data is processed in accordance with the GDPR for the sole purpose of managing the call.

13. Acceptance. Submitting implies acceptance of these rules. Governed by Spanish law
