● The KuanDog Prize is held at the 10th Kuandu International Animation Festival (KDIAF) in 2020 to provide animators a platform to screen and promote their works.

● The Festival not only injects new energy into the animation industry, but it also promotes interactions between local and international participants.

● The KuanDog Prize encourages submissions from excellent animators and filmmakers. KDIAF also offers screening programs for outstanding animated films in different categories selected from all over the world.

● Every year we have around 20,000 attendees to our events.

Best Animated Short Film Award: one winner;
Prize –Cash Prize of US$2,000 and one KuanDog Trophy
Eligibility: All animated films are eligible to enter this category. Student animated films can be opted to enter either this category or the Best Student Film category. However, one film can only choose one category.

-Best Student Film Award: one winner;
Prize – Cash Prize of US$1,500 and one KuanDog Trophy
Eligibility: An animated film was produced while the filmmaker(s) were attending educational institutions and under instructors’ supervision.

-Taiwan Special Award: one winner;
Prize – Cash Prize of 45,000 NTD and one KuanDog Trophy
Eligibility: All entered films produced by Taiwanese filmmakers who hold proof of citizenship will be considered eligible.

- Taiwan Student Award: one winner;
Prize –Cash Prize of 45,000 NTD and one KuanDog Trophy
Eligibility: All selected student films produced by Taiwanese filmmakers who hold proof of citizenship will be considered eligible.

-Best Promising Score in Industry Award: one winner;
Prize – Cash Prize of 1,000 USD and one KuangDog Trophy
Eligibility: All films entered in all the above categories can be considered for this award.

-Honorable Mentioned: could be more than one winner
Prize – Award Certificate
Eligibility: All films entered in all the above categories can be considered for this award.

【REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION】


Entrants are under obligation to complete the registration process and submit the required materials.

1. Required Materials:

(1) An entry form in digital format.
The website for entry: https://forms.gle/kcqJqsRrTvNRwoK87

(2) A digital copy of your film for Preview. Preview Format: (at least) 1920x1080 MP4 (Codec H. 264)、 MOV. We do not accept DCP or Blue-Ray.

(3) 1 photo of the director, JPEG format with at least 300 dpi.

(4) 3 stills, JPEG format with at least 300 dpi.

(5) Films with dialogue must include English subtitles and the script in the format of PDF, DOC, or DOCX. If the Chinese subtitle is also needed, please provide it in Traditional Chinese.


2. Submission


(1) Fill in the entry form on the website: https://forms.gle/kcqJqsRrTvNRwoK87

(2) Submit the film by uploading the film to the website that allows online watching and download under the authorization, and authorizing tnuakdiaf5@gmail.com to download. Email the password if there is one.

(3) The copy of the entry form, the link of the film and required materials should be emailed to tnuakdiaf5@gmail.com with the title "2020 KDIAF-Name of the film" before July 15th, 2020.


【NOTICE】


1. The animation must be completed works, and unfinished animation will not be included in the preliminary review. Modification of film(s) or changing the title after submission will not be accepted.


2. All the information entrants provide will be used for the nomination announcement, the winner announcement, the promotion announcement, and the awards ceremony. Entrants should be responsible for any errors or omissions of the information.


【SELECTION AND JURY】


1. The list of nominations will be announced on the official website of KDIAF after the primary committee completes the primary election before August 31st. The notification will be sent by email.


2. The nominees need to provide a complete copy of the film by the informed deadline. If the entrant fails to comply with the submission requirement under regulations, including deadlines and formats, the competition team reserves the right to consider that the entrant voluntarily gives up his /her place.


3. A Jury Board panel consists of animator, filmmaker, scholar, and expertise will view and choose the winners in each category. The winning films will be announced at the award ceremony.


【DUTIES AND OBLIGATIONS】


1. Each entrant declares to be the author or the rights owner of the film(s) in competition and to own all the literary, dramatic and musical rights. If the film(s) has involved in the case of breaching copyright at any level, the organizer will reserve the right to revoke the award. Any copyright disputes resulting from showing the film shall be on the full responsibility of the participants.


2. The entrants agree to grant the 2020 KDIAF and any affiliated or authorized third parties without recompense the right to edit or reproduce the submitted film for promotion purposes, including but not limited to adding Chinese or English subtitles or cutting a clip version for promotion. Once being selected, entrants grant the KDIAF and the Animation Department of TNUA the right to use the text, stills, posters, and information on the personnel for the purposes of promotion, related events, and documentation for the competition.


3. Entrants are obliged to provide a copy of the film during the jury deliberation period (April 20th – October 31st, 2020).

(1) The selected and the nominees are obliged to declare rights of the film to the KDIAF, for non-commercial screening until December 31st, 2020.

(2) The award recipients are obliged to declare rights of the film for the KDIAF, and the Animation Department of TNUA for screening while promoting the KDIAF locally and organizing non-commercial promotions until August 31st, 2021.


4. In response to the COVID-19, the 2020 KuanDu International Animation Festival will provide ONLINE FILM FESTIVAL during the festival period (October 25th – 31st, 2020), for the selected and the nominee’s films. The entrants should decide whether to agree with online screening, the decision will not affect the qualification for the competition. The decision shall be made while submitting the entry form.


【ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS】


1. By submitting the entry form for KDIAF 2020, the entrants accept, without reservation, the terms of the present regulations as stated in this document.


2. All prize awards should comply with Taiwanese Income Tax Law; failed to do so will cause the forfeit of the prize. The cash prize and trophy will be given to the director unless the director designates another recipient. Only will the title of the award remain if the winner does not reply within six months after informed. The cash prize and the trophy will be withdrawn then.


3. The Rules and Regulations are printed in Chinese and English. In case of dispute, the Chinese content is considered for interpretation and understanding and is governed by the laws of Taiwan (R.O.C.). The entrants are obliged to agree that the Taiwan Taipei District Courts are the court in the first instance.


4. In response to the COVID-19, the 2020 KuanDu International Animation Festival will modify the competition submission rules and regulations in accordance with government policies, including but not limited to making the adjustment of the competition submission schedule, nomination announcement and awards ceremony, or postpone the event. Entrants should modify the term of the video authorization or other things specified in cooperation with the KDIAF. If there is anything unspecified, the announcement of the KDIAF shall prevail.
