Berriozar Films Kultural “Lantzeluze” announces the XVIII Edition of the “International Festival of Social Themed Short Films” in Berriozar, which will take place from October 14th to 17th, 2026.

Registration Period:
The admission period for works will be from April 20th to April 30th, 2026.
Requirements for Participation:
- To know and comply with these regulations.
- To complete the registration via the platform: festhome.com
- To provide all requested data and attach all required documentation on said platform.
- To ensure the submission is sent correctly according to the guidelines.
Regulations:
1. Scope: The festival is international. Short films produced from January 1st, 2025, up to one day before the admission deadline are eligible for the selection process.
2. The subject matter of the works must address social issues.
3. All genres are welcome (fiction, documentary, animation, etc.) and will compete within the same category.
4. The maximum length of the short films is 12 minutes, including credits.
5. Works that cannot be viewed due to technical or format issues will not be registered. Films must have built-in sound. Works requiring auxiliary playback systems will not be admitted.
6. Official languages are Spanish and Basque. Any other language may be used, but subtitles in Spanish or Basque must be provided. These subtitles must be embedded in the file submitted on the platform and in the final screening file.

8. Participants may submit as many works as they wish. The projection file format must be *.mp4.
9. Considering this festival is a non-profit event for the promotion of the audiovisual sector, participants waive any royalties for the screening of their short films during the Festival upon registration.
10. The Organization will conduct a pre-selection phase based on theme, creativity, and technique. Selected films will be screened and are the ones eligible for jury awards. Notification will occur at least one month before the festival begins via the platform.
11. Festival Dates:
Competition Phase:
Screenings on October 14th, 15th, and 16th. The audience will vote for their favorite work (Audience Award).
Final Gala: Saturday, October 17th. Screening of winning works and awards ceremony.
12. Berriozar Films will appoint a 5-member jury (representatives from Berriozar Films, the City Council, a film director, and audiovisual specialists/artists). The jury may declare any prize void if necessary.

Participatory Section:
Audience Award: 400 €
*Note: The 4th prize is governed by the EITB contract for the best Basque-Navarrese short film. The winner commits to a possible interview and grants EITB MEDIA the right to broadcast the sponsorship.
14. The Organization will contact winners at least one month before the gala. High-quality projection files (as per point 8) must be provided. Failure to respond to communications within the deadline may lead to disqualification.
15. The presence of a member of the directing team or a representative is essential at the awards ceremony. The festival will provide 300€ per prize to cover lodging, meals, and travel expenses, regardless of the number of attendees.
For the Audience Award, winners may send a 1-minute thank-you video one hour before the Gala if travel cannot be arranged.
Compatibility: Participation is compatible with other festivals, prizes, or grants.
16. Participation implies full acceptance of these regulations and the jury's final decisions.
17. The selected works will be screened for students at the Berriozar Public Institute and for social and/or educational entities in Berriozar after the Festival, to be used as tools for addressing certain social themes. Due to their theme, they could be part of a "Kortoteka," accessible only to social workers, directors, or heads of educational centers for possible use in educational and/or training projects.
18. To participate in this Festival implies the acceptance of the regulations of this calling, as well as all the decisions and resolutions taken by the Organisation and the Jury.
