The Candiani Cultural Center and Cinema Circuit of the City of Venice announce the first edition of Mesthriller Film Fest, an event that, in the fourth edition of Mesthriller, aims to promote the culture of the thriller / noir / crime story also in films.

The video competition is for fictional and animation short films of international production whose theme is suspense in all meanings of thriller, crime story, and noir.

The selected works will be projected during the event and the following prizes will be awarded:

1. Best international short film
2. Best young director under 30 years old
3. Best Crime Story / Noir / Thriller storyline
4. Best leading actor / actress

Both published and unpublished works can be entered in the competition without restrictions on the year of production of the work. In addition, works that have already won in other short film competitions can participate.

The maximum duration for works in all sections is 20 minutes.

Each author can participate in the competition with a maximum of two works.

Short films in languages other than Italian must include subtitles in Italian or English (in SRT format. Embedded subtitles are accepted only if in Italian).

The text of the storyline must be attached on the platforms or sent via email to candiani@comune.venezia.it (with the subject Mesthriller Film Fest) in pdf format (maximum 5 folders - [1 folder = 1,800 characters including spaces]).

The videos without the complete documentation required in every part will be excluded from the selection.

The selected videos will be screened based on a program that will be published on the official website of the festival before the beginning of the event, and will be examined by a jury that will award the prizes.

The winners of the prizes awarded by the jury must attend the awards ceremony, or the awarding of the prize shall be revoked.

The jury's decision is final.

There will be no payment of any screening fees to the authors / distributors of the selected films.

By registering for the competition, each author is responsible for the content of his/her works. The author also declares and guarantees that the rights of the work, in its entirety, are his/her own property and that they do not infringe the rights of third parties, such as other authors, portrayed subjects, assignees of rights, musical rights, etc. If the work contains content that is not owned by the Festival Participant, the latter undertakes to collect all the disclaimers and authorizations required for participation in the Festival itself. In any case, the participant in the Festival and / or the author of the work, undertake to relieve the organization of any claim, damage request and / or expense by anyone. The admission request to the Festival implies the unconditional acceptance of all the points of the rules. Pursuant to the GDPR of 25/05/2018, the authors' personal data will be processed only for the purpose of organizing the event.
Based on any organizational needs, the above rules may change, without in any case altering their substance.

With the acceptance of this announcement, the Candiani Cultural Center is authorized to project
the work in future events organized by the Center itself without profit. Authors will always be notified of the inclusion of their work before any new projection.
The request to participate in the MESTHRILLER FILM FEST 2019 implies full and unconditional acceptance of these rules.


TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION SEND:
- Registration form in digital format, word or text file (not handwritten) completed in its entirety;
- Two stage photos of the work in jpeg format (with authorization for publication and promotion);
- Storyline of the work (maximum 5 folders - 1 folder = 1,800 characters including spaces)
- Digital file of the work;
- Subtitle files in Italian or English in SRT format

The works can be sent via web - Dropbox, Vimeo, Wetransfer - reporting to the email address candiani@comune.venezia.it the link to download the video, the photos, the registration form in word or text format and the text of the storyline in pdf format (provided that these links do NOT entail registration requirements for the organization) and through the Festhome platform.
