RULES OF THE SHORT FILM COMPETITION


Our festival is oriented to the science fiction, horror and fantasy genre. Meeting this condition, participation in the short film competition is open to all short films directed by people over 16 years of age. The registration period for short films will begin on December 8 and end on June 8, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

The organization reserves the right to close shipping before this date if necessary through online platforms. The digital files will be part of the heritage of this festival and will be used for non-profit cultural activities or for the dissemination of this festival.

OBLIGATIONS OF REGISTRATIONS


to. - Each author and/or group can present more than one work.


b. - The festival assumes that the owners of the short films presented have all the rights to exhibit and promote the works and materials they represent. This festival trusts that they will take responsibility for ensuring that they are not the subject of any legal claim and decline any legal responsibility regarding the short films and their owners.


do. - Shipping costs will be borne by the participants.


SHORT REQUIREMENTS
c. - The theme of the short films will vary depending on the category.

1) Science fiction category: the theme will be free, of any secondary genre, although science fiction must prevail (character of this festival), and made in real image. Documentary short films will not be accepted at the moment.

2) Fantasy category: the theme will be free, of any secondary genre, although the fantasy genre must prevail (character of this festival), and made in real image. Documentary short films will not be accepted for now.

3) Horror Category: the theme will be free, of any secondary genre, although the horror genre must prevail (character of this festival), and made in real image. Documentary short films will not be accepted for now.


d. - The duration of the short films may not exceed 15 minutes.

and. - Said short film must be completely finished after January 1, 2023

F. - Registration will be online through Festhome

Registration fees are as follows

From December 8 to June 8: 4 euros

h. - Short films must be shot in Spanish or Catalan, or subtitled in one of these two languages.

Yo. - Those selected will be asked to send the short films in HD compatible files since the viewing will be done from a Hard Drive.

2. PRIZES


a.- This contest has four prizes. They will be chosen by a professional jury independent of the festival.

3. THE COMMISSION


to. - The BCN Fantasy film festival commission is responsible for this festival and the management of the information derived from it.

b. - Task:

Make the selection of the finalist short films that will be delivered to the professional Jury and will be screened between September 28, 2024.
Notify those selected starting August 31, 2024.

c. -And reserves the right to:

Reject a work due to poor image or sound quality.
Modify any point of these bases if circumstances require it (committing to pertinent notifications)


4. JURY


The jury's decisions will be final.

The professional jury of the Sera awards is made up of 3 members who are specialists in cinema. The jury may award any special mentions it deems appropriate (without financial prize or trophy).
5. EXHIBITION


to. -The organization will establish the exact viewing schedule for this festival as soon as possible.

b. - The awards ceremony will be scheduled for the day of this festival, September 27, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m. in the city of Barcelona.


6. FINAL PROVISIONS
to. - Incidents not contemplated in these Rules will be resolved by the Festival Commission.

b. - Acceptance of these rules implies accepting that videographic and photographic records of the finalists may appear in the streaming sessions (which will be deleted at the end of the contest) in future festival dissemination campaigns, as well as photographs and recordings taken during the festival. 2025, for the broadcasts planned both in the written press and in digital broadcasts for and on the occasion of the BCN Fantasy film festival (exclusively).
