Founded in 2012, Creativa Fest aims to broaden our Mexico's growing passion for the art of animation. This competition will reward the best international productions in the fields of digital art and animation.

We firmly believe that recognizing and rewarding artistic productions can be a big motivation for the creative community and will serve as a great incentive so that content of better quality can be produced.

All works chosen to be part of the Creativa Fest Official Selection 2018 will receive a participation diploma.

Winners of the different categories of Creativa Fest 2018 will receive an all-inclusive trip to Creativa Fest. Details to be unveiled on creativafest.com soon.

1. Registration to Creativa Fest 2018 is completely free of charge.

2. Participants in the second edition of Creativa Fest’s film competition must submit the entry form online at https://festhome.com

3. By submitting your film or production you accept the terms of participation and agree to comply with the rules and regulations of the festival.

4. Only producers, directors, and /or any entity who owns the rights of the film or production are eligible to submit material to the competition.

5. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY. The organizing committee, our partners, sponsors, employees, agents, brokers or any individual involved in any way in the organization and management of Creativa Fest and its film and production competition hold no patrimonial rights over any submitted works or its content and will not be liable for third-party claims over their legal rights. The contestants hold the rights to their works and accept any legal action that could be taken against them as well as the consequences that may occur as a result.

6. Creativa Fest reserves the right to disqualify any audiovisual works in any of the following circumstances:
• Submitted work does not comply with the rules and regulations of this document.
• Work failed to meet the technical specifications required (see Delivery Dates and Formats).
• If minimum quality standards are not met (work shows or contains low image resolution, under-exposition, over-exposition, saturation, inaudible or damaged audio, or any other technical problem that affects its overall quality).

----- DELIVERY DATES AND FORMAT -----

1. Reception of works will begin on July 1, 2017 at 12 AM. Films or productions must be uploaded to http://festhome.com no later than 11:59 PM on February 4, 2018. Works received after this date will not be accepted.

2. Only films and productions completed between August 2016 and February 2017 will be considered. Please be aware that every category may have its own terms and conditions of eligibility.

3. Submitted works in a language other than Spanish must include English and/or Spanish subtitles.

4. Submitted works are required to follow these technical specifications:
• File type: .MP4 or .MOV
• Compression: H.264
• Resolution: HD 1280 x 720 minimum
• Sound: 5.1 channels
• Frame rate: 24 fps

5. Entry media must be submitted digitally through the FilmFreeway website. CDs, DVDs, or any other type of physical entry will not be accepted under any circumstances.

----- TERMS OF PARTICIPATION -----

1. Registry is open for Mexican and international contestants; Filmmakers and film industry professionals and advertising, film students, communication, fine arts, advertising and all those connected with the visual arts, collectively or individually, regardless of evidence of their physical or moral personality. Please be aware that every category may have its own terms and conditions of eligibility.

2. Creativa Fest accepts submissions in three different categories:

• International Student Animated Short Film
• International Animated Short Film
• International Virtual Reality Film / Experience

All submitted work must comply with the technical specifications and eligibility terms and conditions.

Creativa Fest reserves the right to place submissions in a different category if deemed appropriate by the festival committee.

3. Each participant may submit an unlimited amount of audiovisual works (individually or as a team) having filled an entry form for each registered work, regardless of category. All submissions to Creativa Fest must be original works and/or demonstrate to have all necessary permissions to the material contained in the film, including but not limited to: all music, artwork, clips, and all depictions of persons, in accordance with articles 68 and 96 through 99 of the Mexican Federal Copyright Act. When dealing with your submission, Creativa Fest relies on the fact that you are the creator of the film and that you have received permission to use all material within the film. Do not submit a film that contains material you do not have the right to use.

Submitted audiovisual works may not contain phrases, expressions or any signs of aggression that may harm the prestige, reputation or beliefs of others. Trademark products and/or brands are not allowed to appear on screen.

Creativa Fest reserves the right to disqualify any audiovisual works that fail to comply with these requirements.

4. Contestants must keep a digital copy of every audiovisual work submitted to the contest. The organizing committee of Creativa Fest are under no obligation to return received files and material or to keeping them after a certain period of time.

5. For every legal effect that could apply, the person or entity that submits any audiovisual work expressly authorizes the organizing committee to hold public exhibitions, broadcasts in television and any other type of electronic media, all within the framework of the event referred to as Creativa Fest and/or in coordination with its sponsors and partners. These exhibitions and/or broadcasts will generate no obligation of payment or compensation of any kind regarding any type of rights over the work used. Creativa Fest, the organizing committee and any person or entity involved in the organization of the event is protected under the Mexican law in case any legal action may be taken regarding this matter.

6. The holders of the patrimonial rights of all and each of the works that are selected as finalists must sign the contract of transfer of rights of use and exploitation of these works in favor of Creativa Fest, which will be provided by the Organizing Committee. This is to obtain a non-exclusive distribution video license for award-winning films, which will make up a compilation entitled “Creativa Fest: Official Selection 2018”. A contract for transfer of these rights will be sent to the producers of the films and productions to be used. Failing to sign this contract will result in the disqualification of the work in question.

7. The organizing committee will decide the screening dates and times of the films. The authors of the selected works will get free access to all Creativa Fest and Creativa Summit 2018 events for a maximum of 2 persons per film or production in the Official Selection. Under no circumstance will the festival cover travel expenses.

8. Anything that is not covered in this Rules and Terms document shall be resolved exclusively by the organizing committee of Creativa Fest and its decisions are final.

----- ELIGIBILITY -----

Creativa Fest accepts submissions in three different categories:

1. International Student Animated Short Film
• Films made by students who are enrolled in a school or were enrolled during the film's production or up to six months after graduation. There are no territory restrictions, Mexican and international students can submit their work. Participants must email proof of student status to info@creativafest.com
• Maximum length of 20 minutes, including titles and credits.

2. International Animated Short Film
• Films made by any artist or animator who is not a student. There are no territory restrictions, Mexican and international professionals can submit their work.
• Maximum length of 20 minutes, including titles and credits.

3. International Virtual Reality Film / Experience
• Full- length virtual reality experiences or films produced between July 2016 and February 2018. There are no territory restrictions, Mexican and international professionals can submit their work.
• Please upload a clip of your film or experience. Maximum length is 15 minutes.

All categories are free-themed and open to all animation techniques.
All submitted work must comply with the technical specifications and eligibility terms and conditions.

Creativa Fest reserves the right to place submissions in a different category if deemed appropriate by the festival committee.

----- SELECTION PROCESS -----

1. All submitted entries will be evaluated in two rounds:
• First round. A board consisting of specialists, academics, filmmakers, and film industry professionals. Selected works will go through to a second round of evaluation. The board’s decision is final and not subject to appeal.
• Second round. A jury consisting of 10 notable personalities from the film industry, animation, communication, and the creative industry. The jury will evaluate how clear the message is, its relevance to the current cultural and artistic movements and/or to matters of public awareness. Creativity, originality, content and significance will also be evaluated.

2. Upon acceptance to the Creativa Fest Official Selection 2018, contestants will be notified by email. Selected entrants will be required to submit their completed work for screening before April 15, 2018, with the following technical specifications:
• Resolution: HD 1920 x 1080 minimum
• File type: .MP4 or .MOV
• Compression: H.264
• Sound: 5.1 channels
• Frame rate: 24 fps

3. If your work is selected, you will be expected to reply promptly to any request for information or clarification from Creativa Fest organizing committee, in case a need arises. Please make sure the email submitted in your entry form is correct.

4. Owners of the selected works must email info@creativafest.com with the following documentation, in English:
• Synopsis (Length of 500 characters maximum).
• Short biography and/or filmography of the director and producer.
• National or international collaboration, if applies.
• Photo of the project representative(s).
• Three still of the film in .PNG high resolution format.

5. The jury reserves the right to declare any of the competition’s categories or winners void if it is considered that the works submitted do not meet the requirements and specifications expressed in this document.
The jury’s decision will be final and unappealable.

6. Results will be made public during Creativa Fest’s award ceremony to be held in Mexico City. These results will also be published on http://creativafest.com. Winners will be contacted by email. Please note that failing to reply promptly within the time established may result in the contestant not receiving the award.

7. The selected shorts for the second edition of Creativa Fest International Animation Competition will be exhibited at public events, forums, movie theaters, television, and electronic media. The copyright and property rights owners accept their submitted audiovisual work, as well as extracts of these for dissemination, to be displayed in commercial and non-commercial events as part of the activities organized by Creativa Entertainment Company SA CV and its sponsors and alliances. Locations where the films and works will be presented will be published on http://creativafest.com and/or related official websites.

The participant accepts any legal action that could be taken against them as well as the consequences that may occur as a result.
