The Festival de Cine de Madrid - PNR is organized by Plataforma Nuevos Realizadores (PNR), a non-profit association founded in 1987 by emerging Spanish filmmakers, producers, and technicians. For nearly forty years, the association has championed the creation and production of audiovisual works in Spain and promoted their exhibition in movie theaters and other distribution channels.

PNR’s long-standing commitment to film and audiovisual production is renewed each year with the celebration of the FCM-PNR, through which the association seeks to fulfill several of its founding objectives.

Film submissions may be made via Festhome from February 2 to April 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

The Festival de Cine de Madrid - PNR is organized by Plataforma Nuevos Realizadores (PNR), a non-profit association founded in 1987 by emerging Spanish filmmakers, producers, and technicians. For nearly forty years, the association has supported the creation and production of audiovisual works in Spain and promoted their exhibition in movie theaters and other distribution channels.
PNR’s long-standing commitment to film and audiovisual production is renewed each year with the celebration of the FCM-PNR, through which the association seeks to fulfill several of its founding objectives:
● To consider cinematic works regardless of their format, length, genre, or theme.
● To provide exhibition opportunities for emerging contemporary cinema in theaters with optimal screening conditions.
● To promote emerging production through Official Feature Film and Short Film Sections.
● To bring the work of new filmmakers to the public by offering screenings at accessible prices, showcasing films made by PNR members, and organizing open meetings between filmmakers, audiences, and students.
● Special consideration will be given to works whose Madrid premiere takes place at the 35th FCM-PNR.
The 35th edition of the Madrid Film Festival will take place from September 14 to 20, 2026, in movie theaters throughout the Community of Madrid.
The submission period opens on February 2 and closes on April 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM, via the FESTHOME platform.
Works whose original language is not Spanish must include Spanish subtitles at the time of submission; otherwise, the selection committee will not be obliged to view them.
The list of selected works in all sections will be published on the festival’s website in July 2026:

PARALLEL SECTIONS
Deaf Cinema Section
Short films should preferably be performed in Sign language (from any country).
Spanish subtitles are mandatory.
Direction, post-production, acting, and screenwriting may be carried out by Deaf or hearing individuals alike.
Only fiction works will be accepted; themes are open.
Short films may participate with no restriction on production date. duration must be between 5 and 30 minutes.
Vertical Cinema Section (International)
Participation in this section is open to series and short films in vertical format (9:16) of any nationality.
Selected works will be screened online during the festival week on the festival’s Instagram channel. In the case of series, only the first three episodes will be screened. Finalist projects will be screened in an in-person section during the festival.
Spanish subtitles are mandatory.
Themes are open.
Eligible works must have been produced after January 1, 2025.
duration must be between 3 and 100 minutes.

Attendance at the Closing Gala is not mandatory to receive awards. The festival organization will coordinate attendance and, subject to budget availability, provide support for accommodation and transportation.

Cash prizes are subject to applicable taxes and withholdings in accordance with current regulations. The amounts stated above constitute the base for calculation. Payment will be made according to the deadlines established by PNR and will not exceed one year from the date of the Closing Gala.

Service-based awards will not, under any circumstances, consist of discounts that require winners to purchase additional services in order to benefit from them, except for necessary expenses such as transportation, insurance, and equipment operators. These awards will be valid for 12 months from the date of the Closing Gala.
SUBMISSIONS – deadline
Submissions may be made via Festhome from February 1 to April 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Selected works will be notified individually in June, and the official selection list will be published on the festival’s website in June–July 2026:

REGULATIONS
Only works that meet the specific requirements of each section may be submitted.
Submission categories:
Deaf Cinema Section
Vertical Cinema Section
Only one work per member will be accepted. Membership fees must be up to date, with a minimum period of membership prior to the opening of submissions.
All works must be submitted in their original language. Works in languages other than Spanish must include Spanish subtitles for both the online viewing link and exhibition copies. Genre and theme are open, excluding promotional, advertising, or corporate works. Only works with a digital screening copy will be accepted.
If the information provided during submission is incorrect or contrary to these regulations, the festival may program the work out of competition in parallel sections.
Works generated entirely through generative AI (screenplay and/or main images) will not be accepted. The festival may request additional information to verify compliance.
SELECTION
The festival pays a selection fee and provides financial support to attending teams, subject to budget availability.
All participants will be informed of the selection results. Selected participants must submit:
One still frame from the film
One photograph of the director(s)
A trailer, or alternatively, a one-minute representative video
Failure to submit any of the required materials may result in exclusion from the selection.
The selection of competing works and their scheduling during the festival is the exclusive responsibility of the festival organization.
Screenings will be conducted exclusively in high definition. Accepted formats: DCP, Blu-ray, or HD digital file.
COMMITMENT OF SELECTED WORKS
Selected works must:
Not publicly announce their selection until officially communicated by the festival.
Not withdraw the selected work from the program or hold any commercial screenings in Madrid prior to its festival screening.
Maintain declared premiere status or notify the festival of any changes to avoid errors in promotional materials and press releases.
Provide exhibition copies and required materials within the deadlines established by the organization.
Authorize the festival to use excerpts of the film for promotional purposes (maximum 1 minute).
Consent to the screening of the work both in person (in movie theaters) and online on digital platforms.
Submitting a work to the festival implies full acceptance of these regulations by its authors.





  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
