Algeciras Fantástika is a multidisciplinary cultural event specialized in matters of fantastic nature, suspense, terror and science fiction, organized by Algeciras City Council and the University of Cadiz.

The short film winner will receive as a prize the “Místico award for the best short film" and the feature film winner will receive as a prize the “Místico award for the best feature film".

ALGECIRAS FANTASTIKA 2025 FILMS FESTIVAL

1. The topic of the films will be the fantastic genre, science fiction or terror.

2. The short films should have a maximum length of 20 minutes, and the feature films should have a minimum length of 60 minutes.

3. The films must have audio or subtitles in Spanish.

4. The films should be at least in SD (480p) resolution but HD (720p) or FullHD (1080p) resolution will be used. The downloadable file must be in MP4 digital format or similar. The management may discard films that do not meet these specifications or that do not have sufficient image quality for dissemination in the Contest.

5. The number of films by author is not limited. It will be requested that the author attach with each one a high resolution image file with the cover of the film, as well as the technical file and the synopsis.

6. The contact details of the author will also be requested. This data will be only used in order to identify the finalists and the winner, and the data collected will be destroyed later. Received forms that do not correctly include this data will be discarded.

7. The author will receive further information about his participation during the contest.

8. The deadline for the receipt of films will end on September 20th (2025), at which time the participation form will be disabled.

9. The jury evaluating the competition will be composed of a president and three members, all specialists in the field.

10. The results will be made public on the Algeciras Fantástika 2025 Contest closing day, in the awards ceremony.

11. The short film winner will receive as a prize the “Místico” award for the best short film and the feature film winner will receive as a prize the “Místico” award for the best feature film.

12. The technical files of the finalist films will be published in the memory book that will be edited after the event.

13. The enrolment through the registration form supposes the acceptance by the contestant of all the previous rules.
