International Children’s Film Festival India ()

The section will screen children’s feature length films that adhere to globally recognized standards of excellence in film-making.

Eligibility

• Live Action Features, Animation and Documentary Features are eligible for this Section
• Films with duration of 60 minutes or more will be considered features
• Only features completed after 1st June 2017 and not submitted in previous ICFFIs are eligible for submission.
• All Indian films should either be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification, India or have obtained exemption under Section 9 of Cinematograph Act, 1952. Films that are certified “A” by CBFC are not eligible.

Jury Competition International

The Chairperson of CFSI appoints the members and Chairperson of the Jury. In the absence of Chairperson, the Festival Director will appoint the members of the jury. The Jury is composed of five eminent personalities from India and abroad. A person who has participated in the production/ promotion of any film selected for the section may not serve on the Jury. Chairperson or CFSI’s representative may attend jury deliberations but will take not part in the voting. Jury members are sworn to secrecy. Jury discussions ballots remain strictly confidential.

Children’s Jury Competition International

The Chairperson of CFSI appoints the members of the International Children’s Jury from amongst the child delegates attending the Festival. In the absence of Chairperson, the Festival Director will appoint the members of the jury. The Children’s Jury is composed of five children aged 10 to 16, representing regional diversity. At least three members of the children’s jury must be girls.

The aim of this section is to encourage children & young people to experiment with the moving image, and stimulate pursuit of film-making both as an art as well as a creative expression of their point of view.
Eligibility

• Age: Films must be made by individual children/groups of children below the age of 16. The core team (Director, Cameraperson, editor, etc.) should be below the age of 16.
• Films made by children under the guidance of adults are eligible but the contribution of adults should be confined to training or facilitating the process & should not be extended to areas like scripting, shooting, story-boarding or animating.
• Entry Fee: No entry fees for Little Directors.
• Films must be subtitled in English
• Films must be suitable for children - content should have no explicit violence, sexual reference or coarse language.
• Films can be shot on any video format available: HD, mp4 format, DVD.
• Final Exhibition Format: The exhibition format must be DVD with resolution of 1920x1080 (PAL).
• The films must’ve been produced between 2017-19 & should not be submitted to previous edition ICFFIs.
• Only films that have been cleared of rights (including musical rights) will be accepted.
• Films must be entered by nominated parent (for individual entries) or teacher / supervisor / trainer / mentor (for group entries).
• It is the obligation of the nominated parent/teacher/trainer/mentor entering the film for Competition (from now on referred to as ‘Legal Guardian’) to ensure that the director and/or director’s Legal Guardian own all copyright for or have written permission to use all underlying works included in the film including music, performance and script.
• It is mandatory to submit age proof of creative team viz. director, cameraperson, editor etc. (school card copy / or photo ID with date of birth).

Note: Competition Little Directors is open to schools, children’s clubs, NGOs, etc. The same guidelines apply to group submissions whereby a teacher/ supervisor/mentor/ trainer acting as the Legal Guardian of the group, must sign the terms and conditions on behalf of the group. Legal Guardians should be aware that the participant indicated on the entry form as the Director of the film will be asked to act as the film’s representative during the festival and for publicity purposes.

II. COMPETITION SHORTS

This section will present the best of children’s short length films from India and across the world
Eligibility

• Live Action, Animation and Documentary shorts not exceeding 30 minutes in length will be eligible for competition
• Shorts produced after 1st June 2017 and not submitted in previous ICFFIs organized by CFSI are eligible for submission.
• All Indian films should either be certified by the Central Board of Film Certification, India or have obtained exemption under Section 9 of Cinematograph Act, 1952. Films that are certified “A” by CBFC are not eligible.

Awards for films in Competition Shorts

• A Golden Elephant trophy plus cash prize of Rs.1 Lakhs for Best Short Film
• A Golden Elephant trophy plus cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakhs for Best Short Film Director
• A Golden Elephant trophy plus cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakhs for Best Short film, Children’s Jury
• Special Mention Plaques may be awarded at the discretion of the Jury. They won’t carry cash prize.
• Certificate of Participation to all films presented in this section.

Note: In all categories, the awards except those specifically mentioned for the Director/ Writer shall be given to the producer of the film. The award will be given to the Producer or Producers indicated in the entry form by the submitter.
