The International Horror Film Festival of Valparaíso convokes professional filmmakers and aficionados of short films, featurettes, and feature films from chile and abroad to participate with their movies, related to the genres of terror, horror, gore, suspense, fantasy, bizarre, and variants.

Objectives

Foment the production of independent films, look for novel and diverse content, and being a place for reflection and spread of independent cinema, with sights to the world from Valparaíso.

Date of the Festival.

The International Horror Film Festival of Valparaíso will be online, on / 12th/13th of December of 2025.

We give reconnaissance prize to categories “Best Direction”, “Best Art Direction/FX”, “Best Script” and a non-competitive special mention to “Audience Prize”. We will grant diplomas of gratitude and acknowledgment to every single contestant and an art piece made by Valparaíso artists. Plus, we will exhibit your films in the diverse showings that the festival makes in the cities of Chile and in international festivals.

Requirements for participation

The convocation of this year is open to producers and directors of films, either national or international films.

Genre: Participants will be films of the terror, horror, gore, suspense, fantasy, and bizarre genres. (plus, variants)

Format: Animation, experimental, stop motion, documentary, fiction, etc.

The contest will allow short films and feature films from Chile and abroad without a limit of participation. Movies that are not in Spanish must have Spanish subtitles as an option to guarantee accessibility.




Categories

Contest & Exhibition Feature Films

duration: Films must last a minimum of 50 minutes and mustn’t exceed 120 minutes.

Films recorded in these devices will be accepted: Mobile phone, video camera, digital video, and variants.

Contest & Exhibition Short Films

duration: Short films must last a minimum of 1 minute and mustn’t exceed 20 minutes.

Short films recorded in these devices will be accepted: Mobile phone, video camera, digital video, and variants.


Postulation Process

Participants must sign-up through the festhome platform.

The material must be sent through www.festhome.com

Inscription fees will be available on the website, the cost of this service will have to be covered by each contestant.

The inscription fee is of 7 USD.

The reception of films ends the 29th of November of 2025 at 23:00 Chilean time (GMT-4)


Selection Process

The selected movies will be notified via e-mail to each representative of the films, 1st of December of 2025.

If its not confirmed, the reception of the information, and the organization of FICTV will be free to choose another film as a replacement.

Submission Process

All selected contestants must send their films before the 30th of November of 2025. (Irrevocable deadline).

Exhibition Formats

In case of being selected, you must send the download link of the final cut of your film in one of the following formats: Mov, mp4, avi.

The file must come with the poster, frame, link of the trailer or teaser (in case of having these) to be shared in our social media.

Important: International films of non-Spanish speaking countries must include subtitles in Spanish.

Lastly, the selected movies will be posted on the official catalogue of the festival and will be exhibited through the online platform mentioned above.

Declaration of acceptance of bases

The selected contestants authorize the 15º FICTV to the usage of a fragment or the entirety of their film and complementary graphic material, for its diffusion, broadcasting, or as informative material in media.

The selected movies, once confirmed their official participation in the International Horror Film Festival of Valparaíso, CAN’T retract under any point of view of the 16th version of the festival.

One of the copies will be property of the film library of the festival, from the moment it is part of the festival. Likewise, the festival compromises to tell the producers of the use, always with the intention of cultural broadcasting.

Every contestant, for the reason of being one, accepts the before mentioned bases in their entirety, as well as the resolution from the organizers of the festival in the face of any unforeseen circumstances.

The present bases are subject to possible modifications and/or annexes because of causes outside of the organization.
