The Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival is a film festival dedicated to film lovers and those concerned about the environment in Morocco and abroad, it is an annual event in the superb blue pearl of northern Morocco, the tourist and ecological city of Chefchaouen.

The 15th Edition of the Chefchaouen International Environmental Film Festival will be held from June 17 to 20, 2026on the occasion of World Environment Day.

A varied program, and a jury composed of internationally and nationally renowned film and environmental professionals will be responsible for designating the winners of the planned awards.

Professional films:

The 3 prizes:

- Grand Prize: Best documentary prize

- Best short film prize.

- Best animated film prize

Short films on the environment (amateurs): Two prizes will be awarded to the best films:

- Best short film prize on the environment.

- Best animated film prize

All prizes will be awarded at the closing ceremony (June 20, 2026).

Article 1: Definition

The International Environmental Film Festival of Chefchaouen is open to films dealing with environmental issues, produced by professional or amateur filmmakers (Moroccan and international), regardless of their age (>16 years) or level of experience.

The 15th Edition (2026) of the Chefchaouen Environmental Film Festival (FIFE) will take place from June 17 to June 20, 2026.

The main theme of the festival is “Environment and Climate Change.”

Article 2: Objectives

The 15th Edition (2026) of the Chefchaouen FIFE is a cultural event that offers national and international filmmakers the opportunity to present their audiovisual productions to the public.

This international meeting promotes sharing and exchange between filmmakers, cinema professionals, and especially spectators and those interested in environmental issues.

Article 3: Eligible Films

The FIFE of Chefchaouen accepts films directly related to environment and climate change:

Professional Films:

Theme & Genre: Environment and Climate Change. Eligible genres: documentaries.

duration: Films are divided into two categories:

Short films: up to 20 minutes

Feature films: from 45 minutes

Filmmakers may submit multiple films, but in the case of selection, only one film per director will be retained.

Amateur Films:

Theme & Genre: Environment and Climate Change. Eligible genres: documentaries, fiction, animation.

duration: Maximum 20 minutes (including credits).

Multiple submissions are allowed, but only one film per director will be retained.

School Films:

Theme & Genre: Environment and Climate Change. Eligible genres: documentaries, fiction, animation.

duration: Maximum 15 minutes (including credits).

Formats: AVI, MOV, MP4, MPEG, WMV, etc.
Media: Digital version (online link), DVD, Blu-Ray, USB stick, or Hard Drive.
Note: Films submitted via online link must be in good quality (12K, 8K, 4K, HD, FHD).

Film submission is done online via platforms (Festhome) or by email: festivalchefchaouen@gmail.com

Film data (to be sent if selected): director’s photo, film poster or stills, CV, year of production, and synopsis (in Arabic, French, or english).

NB: Transport costs of films and submission materials are the responsibility of the participant.

Article 5: Preselection

All films submitted within the deadline (see Article 4) will undergo a preselection process.

ATED will appoint a preselection committee to select the films competing in the official categories: professional, amateur, and school films.

Results will be announced on the festival’s official website: www.festival.assated.com
and directly by email to the selected filmmakers.
Applicants who do not receive notification after the deadline will consider their films not selected.

Article 6: Jury

A jury, appointed by ATED, will consist of specialists in documentary cinema and environmental issues, covering all three competitions.

Article 7: awards
Professional Films:

Grand Prize: Best Documentary (8000 DH / $800)

Best Environmental Short Film (5000 DH / $500)

Best Animated Film (3000 DH / $300)

Amateur Films:

Best Environmental Short Film (4000 DH / $400)

Best Animated Film (2000 DH / $200)

School Competition:

“Akchour Prize for Best School Film” (3000 DH / $300)

All prizes will be awarded at the Closing Ceremony on June 20, 2026.

Article 8: Copyright

The producer or director guarantees ownership of all rights (musical, cinematic, or textual) included in the submitted film.
In case of dispute, the festival organizers bear no responsibility.

Article 9: Attendance of Filmmakers

The presence of directors of selected films is mandatory throughout the festival. If unavailable, they may appoint a representative.

If a film wins an award and no representative is present, only a scanned certificate and the trophy will be provided, with shipping handled by the laureate’s embassy.

The festival does not cover taxes, postal, or travel expenses.

ATED covers accommodation and meals for filmmakers in competition (Moroccan and international) during the 4 days of the festival.

Article 10: Accreditation

Festival directors, media, film critics, and other professionals wishing to attend must request accreditation by filling out the corresponding form on the official festival website.
Note: Accredited participants are not financially supported by the festival.

Article 11: Agreement

Participation in the festival implies full acceptance of these regulations.

Participation implies authorization for the projection of selected films, as well as excerpts for broadcast on television or the internet.

Copies of films sent by post will remain the property of ATED and will only be used for non-commercial cultural activities.

  Festhome holds accountable fees festivals by holding the payment of the fees of most newer festivals until they have viewed the submissions, held their festivals and other methods.
