Festival start: 16 April 2021      Festival end: 19 April 2021

The "BienVenus sur Mars" Science and Fiction Encounters are preparing for their next edition and are launching a call for films as part of their short film competition!

Through its programming bringing together shows, reading, digital art, music, visual arts, cinema, conferences, etc. BienVenus sur Mars proposes not only to rely on science fiction and the artistic forms that feed on it, but also on the very phenomenon of encounter between artists and scientists.

The films selected by the selection committee will therefore have to report on a link between science and fiction without necessarily being part of this cinematic genre. Films will be able to show science in various forms or scientists in their research, their work but also be works of fiction inspired by scientific questions.

The selected short films will be shown in public during the Encounters on Friday, April 16. A Jury Prize and a Public Prize will be awarded at the end of the competition.

Held at the Priory of Vivoin, from April 16 to 19, 2021, the Science and Fiction Sats BienVenus encounters on Mars are prepared by the Association Festivals in The Land of Upper Sarthe and CreatureS company in co-production with Sarthe Culture.

A Jury Prize and a Public Prize will be awarded at the end of the competition.

Article 1 - Subject

The association "Festivals in the Land of Haute Sarthe", the organizer, proposes a call for short films as part of next edition of the "BienVenus sur Mars" Encounters which will take place from 16 to 19 April 2021 at the Royal Abbey of The Epau in Yvré l'Eveque, near Le Mans.

Article 2 - Registration

The registration of each film will be validated upon receipt of the completed registration form, accompanied by the link of the film. For further information, the films.bsm@gmail.com address is available. In the event of selection, the director undertakes, at the request of the association, to provide photos of the film that will be used to promote the festival.

Article 3 - Terms of participation

The films selected by the selection committee will have to report on a link between science and fiction without necessarily being part of this cinematic genre. Films will be able to show science in various forms or scientists in their research, their work but also be works of fiction inspired by scientific questions.

The duration of the short film must not exceed 20 minutes. The organizer reserves the right to accept films slightly exceeding this maximum duration on an exceptional basis.

All kinds of short films are accepted with the exception of video clips.

Short films must be produced after January 1, 2018.

The call for short films is open to any natural person over 15 years (at the closing date of the so-called settlement) or legal, amateur and professional. It is accepted that the short film (s) is (be) initiated by an association, a company, a school or several directors. All participants will be notified by email if their short film is selected or not selected by April 2, 2021.

Article 5 - Jury composition and awards
