1. DATES
The 5th annual Skyline Film Festival will be celebrated from the 9th through the 18th of April 2021, in the city of Benidorm (Spain).

2. SECTIONS_______________

4.1. Competitive sections
a) European official section:
Competition of European fiction, animation and documentary short films, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes and with subtitles preferably in Spanish. Screeners with English subtitles will also be accepted.

b) National official section:
- Fiction competition
- Animation competition
- Documentary competition
- Valencian competition

c) Short films section based on sustainability: Short films in the area of sustainability in the style of fiction, animation & documentary, national and or European with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.

d) Students section:
National Competition short films by student directors under 18 years of age. The duration cannot exceed 10 minutes, and the theme must revolve around gender, equality, and or integration.

2.1.1 Characteristics
- Fiction, documentary and animated short films
- Maximum length of 20 minutes
- No category restrictions
- Produced within the E.U.
- Produced after March 2019
- Original works with Spanish, English or Valencian subtitles

2.1.2 Submission
The deadline for registration is February 7th, 2021, through one of the following platforms:

Each applicant may submit a maximum of two works.
European official section:
The early registration fee will be 14€, until January 31st, 2021.
The late registration fee will be 20€, from February 1st to the 7th, 2021.
National official section:
The early registration fee will be 7€, until January 31st, 2021.
The late registration fee will be 15€, from February 1st to the 7th, 2021.
Short films section on sustainability is exempt from taxes.
Students section is exempt from taxes.

2.2. Screenplay competition

2.2.1 Characteristics
The competition is open to all short film screenplays written in Spanish or Valencian.
The theme of the screenplays will be free, original or literary adaptations, with a maximum of 20 pages (counting the cover) and that have not been shot before the Benidorm Skyline Film Festival of 2021 starts.
By participating in this competition, the authors acknowledge that they are in possession of 100% of the copyright of the work(s) presented(s).

2.2.2 Submission
Each author may submit a maximum of three scripts.
Registration will be made through the PDF submission of the short film script to: info@skylinefest.es
The registration fee is 12€ per script (10€ for the second and 8€ for the third if there was one). Payment will be made via Paypal to the account: director@skylinefest.es
The deadline is March 1st, 2021. The scripts will be presented without the name of the author on the cover. In addition, a separate document will be attached with a photocopy of the ID. with the full name of the author, telephone, email and current address.

A selection of the best European shorts and nominees for the 33rd European Film Awards in 2021.

Prizes will be paid to the registered owner or representative of a work or film, and are subject to any taxes and fees under current law. The trophies and awards will be presented at the final gala to the director, producer or registered representative of the awarded short films. The organization will not bear the cost of sending trophies to those awarded not attending the festival.

4. PAYMENT BY SELECTION

The organization will pay all the selected short films in the national official section the sum of 200€ as payment per selection and copyright. Authors must inform the organization if they are part of the SGAE or any other rights company, since the payment of this amount covers the copyright of the projected works. In addition, the organization will cover the costs of room and board for one representative of each national short film.
All prizes will be subject to the corresponding personal income tax deductions.

5. JURY___
The jury will be comprised of outstanding professionals from the film sector, and will be in charge of choosing the official selections and awards.
All decisions made by the jury are final, and any of the prizes may be deemed null and void if the jury sees it as appropriate. The jury may also grant prizes without financial endowment if appropriate. No person who was part of the production or exhibition of any selected films may participate as a jury member. The jury’s final decisions shall not be subject to appeal.

6. GENERAL RULES _____

- The selection committee of the festival will be in charge of choosing the works that will become part of all the official competitive sections. All selected participants will be informed in writing and or personally.
- The festival will cover the accommodation and subsistence expenses of one representative of each selected film.
- The festival will be able to exhibit the selected short films at the locations and times deemed appropriate during the festival and in parallel screenings that could be made throughout the rest of the year, up to a maximum of five screenings.
- The authors of the works selected in competition will take part in a Q&A after the screenings of their works.
- The short films produced by Valencian nationals will also be nominated for the Best Valencian Short Film Award.

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The author or owner shall retain his/her intellectual right and shall be subject to his jurisdiction as long as they are not subject to any legal liability or as long as there are no rights to third parties. The presentation of a short film to SKYLINE BENIDORM FILM FESTIVAL involves, on the part of the selected participants, the transfer of the material to the organizer for use in the different activities programmed with the festival sponsors.
All documentation received will become part of the festival archive.

8. ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS
The registration implies the acceptance of the rules put henceforth by the festival curators.
Any questions pertaining to the festival rules or guidelines not foreseen shall be sent in writing or via email to the festival organization.
These rules are subject to possible modifications and/or annexes for reasons outside the organization.
