The main objective of the Angola International Film Festival is the dissemination of high-quality cinematographic works in Angola. All cinematographic and audiovisual works from all over the world will be selected through quality criteria, which will focus on the discovery of new films and filmmakers, as well as on the legacy of works of recognized value. While the festival will focus on the dissemination of Angolan and African works in programming, we are open to proposals from around the world in order to create greater opportunities for interaction between local, regional and international audiovisual industry.

Regulation

This Regulation refers to short and feature film competition, whose purpose is to select a set of works that will be exhibited at the Angola International Film Festival in the cinemas of Cinemax.

The Angola International Film Festival is an initiative organized by Semba Comunicação, in partnership with the entity that owns the Cinemax movie theaters.

Article 1
Goals

The main objective of the Angola International Film Festival is the dissemination of high-quality cinematographic works in Angola. All cinematographic and audiovisual works from all over the world will be selected through quality criteria, which will focus on the discovery of new films and filmmakers, as well as on the legacy of works of recognized value. While the festival will focus on the dissemination of Angolan and African works in programming, we are open to proposals from around the world in order to create greater opportunities for interaction between local, regional and international audiovisual industry.

Frequency

The Angola International Film Festival will have annual periodicity

Date

The Angola International Film Festival will be realized from the 24 to 31 of May.

Article 4
Competition

The Angola International Film Festival is divided into four categories:

" Official Film Feature competition
" Official Short film competition
" Official Documentary competition
" Official Animation competition


Article 5
Eligibility

All films that comply with the following requirements are admitted to the competition of the Angola International Film Festival:

Short fiction, animation, documentaries should last between 5 and 40 minutes, including credits.

Feature film, fiction, animation, documentary; lasting between 40 and 140 minutes

All national candidate films for competition must have been produced between 2015 and 2018.

All international films candidates for competition must be, films produced between 2016 and 2018.

National and international films of any year will be accepted for special shows outside the competition.

All selected films must be submitted in DCP (Digital Cinema Package)

Only the cinematographic works that scrupulously comply with the rules defined in this Regulation, as well as the instructions defined in the official site of AIFF will be accepted with the following electronic address www.angolaiff.com.

The Festival may decide, exceptionally, to select films that do not meet some of these conditions.

Article 6
Organizing committee

The Organizing Committee is composed of people belonging to Semba Comunicação and the Zahara Group, designated by the Organizing Entities of the Festival.

The Organizing Committee is responsible for all the management and representation of the Organizing Entities in the execution of the Festival, namely the appointment of the members of the Jury of this competition.

The members of the Organizing Committee are not allowed to participate in the competition.

It is the responsibility of the Organizing Committee to verify the eligibility criteria and accept the works to the competition.

the Organizing Committee have the responsibility of to select the films that will be screened at the Angola International Film Festival.

Article 7
The jury

The jury of this competition will be composed of people of merit recognized in the themes of the Festival, in a maximum number of 7 elements.

The members of the Jury are not allowed to participate in the contest.

The decision of the Jury is final and irrevocable and no appeal from it.

The Jury can decide on the attribution of honorable mention

Article 8
Registrations

Pre-selection

Application duly completed through the online platforms.

Foreign language films must have subtitles in Portuguese.

Portuguese-language films with English subtitles are also welcome, although subtitles for Portuguese-language films are not mandatory.

The film can be submitted through the following methods:

" Upload from the platforms, with the possibility of downloading activated (system with associated cost, charged by the platform). If you use this method, please upload a working copy or teaser by March 12, 2018 so that this file can be updated at no extra cost.

" After completing the registration form on the platforms, a private viewing link of the film must be sent in digital format to: info@angolaiff.com, along with the synopsis in Portuguese or English and the poster of the film.

Entries in the contest have a value of 10 euros per film. National registrations are free.

Registration at the Angola International Film Festival presupposes the mandatory completion of the registration form available on the online platforms.

Submission must comply with the rules defined on the Festival's official website www.angolaiff.com.

Post selection

After selection, only those works that comply with the defined formats will be accepted.

" Copy of selection in DCP - Digital Cinema Package
" Synopsis
" Two photos from the movie
" A photograph of the filmmaker
" List of dialogues in Portuguese or English
" Biographies and filmographies of the director, producer and screenwriter of the work (if not the director performing the other functions)
" Press kit (posters, postcards, press on the film)
" Authorization to exhibit

Any costs related to length in the defined requirements are the responsibility of the candidate.

Competitors undertake to assign to the organizers the right to exhibit, publish or reproduce part or all of the work, always safeguarding the author's indication.

Article 9
Deadlines / Exhibition

Submission of works to the competition, runs from the 1st of February 2018 to 12 March 2018.

The selection period for the accepted cinematographic works will run until April 15, 2018, when the Organizing Committee will send a notification by electronic mail of the acceptance of the works to the competition.

From May 24 to May 31 will be shown to the public the films selected by the Jury of the contest and the Organizing Committee. All selected films will be shown with subtitles in Portuguese or doubled in Portuguese.

The contest award will take place in a public session on 31st May 2018, in a place to be designated by the Organizing Committee.

The Angola International Film Festival will not only be restricted to the city of Luanda, Benguela, Huambo and Lubango, are also contemplated, these cities where there are Cinemax rooms.

Article 11
publicity

The producer (and / or the holder of film copyrights in festivals), undertakes to mention the Angola International Film Festival and use his logo in all advertising, press / promotional material produced, after the award of the film.

The producer (and / or the holder of the rights to the exhibition of the film in festivals) guarantees that it holds all the copyrights and authorizations of all the contents presented in the film (publicity, soundtracks, etc.)

Article 13
Special Sessions

Set of extra competition films. Films of honor may be included to a figure of recognized merit of the cinematographic means, national or international or a national premiere. This session may also include the Opening and Closing movies.

Article 14
Parallel Activities

Additional activities of the festival include, various Workshops / debates and conferences on the films shown and exhibitions.

Each of the briefing and / or special session can be accompanied by a Forum or conference in which experts and special guests will discuss the topic related to the session.

Article 15
Final dispositions

The Organizing Committee reserves the right to weigh and decide on any matter not covered by this regulation.
