13th International Film and Communication Festival of Indigenous Peoples –FICMAYAB’ 2018.

The Latin American Coordinator Film and Communication of Indigenous Peoples (Coordinadora Latinoamericana de Cine y Comunicación de los Pueblos Indígenas, CLACPI) calls to participate in the 13th International Festival of Film and Communication of Indigenous Peoples –FICMAYAB’ to be held in Guatemala from October 2nd to 17th, 2018. The festival will hold its main events in Totonicapán, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala City, Cobán and in Chisec (Alta Verapaz), with complementary activities during the previous months in the Mesoamerican territory (El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico and Guatemala).

El Jurado otorgará reconocimientos a los siguientes géneros y formatos:

Documental: corto y largometraje
Ficción: corto y largometraje
Animación y/o experimental
Programa o serie “televisiva”
Reportaje de actualidad



A efectos de premiación se entenderá cortometraje cualquier obra inferior a 30 min y largometraje cualquier obra superior a 30 min.

Asimismo el Jurado internacional otorgará reconocimientos a los trabajos que en su propuesta destaquen las siguientes temáticas:

Derechos de las Mujeres Indígenas / Originarias
Defensa de la Vida, la Madre Tierra y el Territorio
Defensa de los Derechos Indígenas / Originarios
Fortalecimiento de la Identidad y Culturas Indígenas / Originarias
Nuevos lenguajes audiovisualesy aportes a la narrativa Indígena / Originaria
Obra con participación Indígena / Originaria
Obra con participación infantil-juvenil y/o dirigida a público infantil-juvenil
Reconocimiento de la Diversidad Sexual
Memoria Histórica
Migraciones y Tráfico de personas
Procesos Socio-Organizativos

The works of the following audiovisual genres will be able to participate: fiction, documentary, reportage, animation, video clip, experimental, program or television series, or any combination thereof, regardless of their duration, whose theme addresses culture, history, traditions , narratives, aspirations, organizational processes, demands and struggles of Indigenous and Native Peoples from any part of the world.

Works made from 2015 to date will be accepted.
Works that promote racism or discrimination of any kind, that denigrate or discriminate against women or justify gender violence, as well as works that promote a political party or religious group, will not be accepted; nor will those that promote institutions or specific groups for profit or propaganda purposes.

Work that have already participated in the 12th International Film and Video Festival of Indigenous Peoples, organized by CLACPI in 2015, will not be eligible.
