The Bogotá Underground Film Festival born as an alternative for the circulation and exhibition of cinematographic works of emerging filmmakers, promoting the realization of low budget, innovation and narrative recursiveness, the topics little addressed and recognizing cinematographic quality.

Inviting all filmmakers from anywhere in the world to send their works to participate in the first edition of the BUFF, which will be held in May of 2020, opening spaces for the dissemination of underground and independent films through screenings, talks and events of importance for the formation of audiences and filmmakers, making the film possible. Rewarding the most outstanding works within the different categories.

AWARDS

BEST FICTION SHORT FILM
The jury will choose the best short of the 8 selected, granting the special award to the winner, distinctive recognition of the festival, review of the critics and exclusive participation in the official BUFF fanzine (interview and discussion).

BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM
The jury will choose the best short of the 8 selected, granting the special award to the winner, distinctive recognition of the festival, review of the critics and exclusive participation in the official BUFF fanzine (interview and discussion).

BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM
The jury will choose the best short of the 8 selected, granting the special award to the winner, distinctive recognition of the festival, review of the critics and exclusive participation in the official BUFF fanzine (interview and discussion).

“HAZAÑA BUFF”
The winner of this category will be selected from the 24 short films participating in the three competitions, recognizing the best produced short film with the least budget of the festival. You will obtain the special award, distinctive recognition of the festival, review of the critics and exclusive participation in the official fanzine of the BUFF (complete section, interviews and conversations).

PUBLIC PRIZE
The BUFF public will select the best short film of the festival, awarding the special winner, distinctive festival recognition, review of the critics and exclusive participation in the official BUFF fanzine (full section, interviews and talks).

BASES

1. Deadline for receipt of short films: April 13, 2020.
2. All short films produced between January 2018 and April 2020 will be received.
3. The minimum duration of the short films is six (6) minutes and maximum of twenty-five (25) minutes. Including credits.
4. Short films of any nationality may participate, those spoken in languages other than Spanish must be subtitled in this language.
5. Each participant may enter a maximum of three (3) shorts in his name.
6. Short films made under academic frameworks can participate.
7. We are not responsible for the copyright and copyright of the short film, this is the responsibility of the filmmakers.
8. The festival is a free theme, any work of any kind can participate. No restrictions of age or content.
9. All the short films selected for the different competitions must have a format for authorizing the exhibition of the work with clauses established by the festival and the director.
10. All participating short films are subject to the use of no more than one (1) minute of material for the development of festival advertising material.
11. The registration of the short films will only be done online, through the Festhome platform.
12. For the first edition of the BUFF, registration to the festival will be completely free.
13. The jury of the festival will be made up of professionals of the medium, who will be in charge of awarding the prizes to: BEST FICTION SHORT FILM, BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM and BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM. Your decision will be unappealable.
14. The BUFF board will be responsible for awarding the award to HAZAÑA BUFF taking into account the budgets of the short films and the quality thereof, with the help of the juries. The decision will be unappealable.
15. The vote of the PUBLIC PRIZE will be carried out by the organizers of the festival through surveys carried out within it, stating each and every one of the votes, in order to award the award with the greatest possible transparency.
16. The dates of the festival may vary, participants are guaranteed and the public its completion in the month of May 2020.
17. The physical location of the festival will be confirmed in the coming months, as well as its special guests and the members of the jury.
18. When completing the form and sending the short film, acceptance of the rules of the Bogotá Underground Film Festival is accepted.

20. Through the platform, the following information must be attached to the film file:
Photograph of the Director.
Still photography - Film frame (Maximum 3 for the Fanzine).

21. Enrolled works must be finalized.
