The Sci-Fi and Fantasy Film Festival 2026 is an event of showing and spreading the culture of this genres in Bogotá, with some spaces of showing between 25 and 31 of october.

PRIZES: There will be the next prizes:

- Best Feature Film
- Best Short Film SCI-FI
- Best Short Film FANTASY
- Best Short Film TERROR
- Best Film EXPERIMENTAL
- Best VIDEOCLIP

This prizes gonna have a trophy or gift to be delivered in the Award Ceremony to the presents filmmakers, if the filmmaker isn't present in the ceremony must pay the shipping costs.

1. DATE AND LOCATION OF THE COMPETITION: From October 25 to 31, 2026, in the city of Bogotá, Colombia.


2. SUBMISSION PERIOD: From January 18 to August 31, 2026, it will be divided into three deadlines:
Earlybird deadline (from January 18 to February 4, 2026), Regular deadline (from February 5 to July 31, 2026) and Extended deadline (from August 1 to August 31, 2026).


3. OFFICIAL SELECTION NOTIFICATION DATE AND FILM FESTIVAL LAUNCH: Notification of the films selected for the film festival will take place on September 25, 2026 via email. The launch of the Festival and the presentation of the Official Selection to the press and different media outlets will take place in July, together with the announcement of partners, sponsors, screening venue, associates, the official image, trailer and jury.


4. CATEGORIES AND FEES OF THE COMPETITION: The FILM FESTIVAL will be divided into the following categories:

- Sci-Fi: Sci-Fi genre films; including subgenres such as dystopia, post-apocalypse, space opera, cyberpunk, among others.

- Horror: Horror, thriller or suspense films, and science fiction and fantasy films where horror is at the service of these genres; including subgenres such as dark fantasy, monsters, vampires and werewolves, supernatural, surveillance, zombies, film noir, action thriller, conspiracy thriller, political thriller, spies, among others.

- Fantasy: Fantasy and western genre films; including subgenres such as fairy tales, epics, modern fantasy, magical realism, urban fantasy, science fantasy, steampunk, spaghetti western, modern western, among others.

- Experimental: Sci-Fi, horror and fantasy films that use experimental elements in the work.

- Videoclip: Music videos created for bands, orchestras or solo artists that have Sci-Fi, horror and fantasy themes as the central axis of the video narrative.

- National: Sci-Fi, horror, fantasy and experimental films and music videos that have been filmed, produced or post-produced in Colombia or whose directors have Colombian nationality.

These different categories will be divided into the following submission categories (divided according to film length). These are the prices per deadline:

- Feature Film (Sci-Fi, Horror or Fantasy): 5 USD (Earlybird deadline) / 15 USD (Regular deadline) / 20 USD (Extended deadline)

- Short Film (Sci-Fi, Horror, Fantasy or Experimental): 5 USD (Earlybird deadline) / 10 USD (Regular deadline) / 15 USD (Extended deadline)

- Feature Film (Colombia Production): 5 USD (Earlybird deadline) / 8 USD (Regular deadline) / 15 USD (Extended deadline)

- Short Film (Colombia Production): Free (Earlybird deadline) / 5 USD (Regular deadline) / 10 USD (Extended deadline)

- VideoClip (Sci-Fi, Horror or Fantasy): 5 USD (Earlybird deadline) / 8 USD (Regular deadline) / 10 USD (Extended deadline)


If the curatorial team or the jury considers that a submitted film fits better in a different category than the one entered, they may move it without prior notice and no claims from participants will be accepted. The SFTF Film Festival is a Festhome Pro Festival, so you will find discounts if you are part of these selections.


5. Awards: The following awards will be presented:

- Best Feature Film
- Best SCI-FI Short Film
- Best FANTASY Short Film
- Best HORROR Short Film
- Best EXPERIMENTAL Short Film
- Best Videoclip

Winners will receive a trophy or gift that will be presented at the awards Ceremony to the filmmakers present; if the filmmaker is not present at the ceremony, they must cover the shipping costs.


6. PARTICIPATING WORKS: Films from all over the world may participate. If the film is in english or in a different language, Spanish subtitles will be required. Priority will be given to national, continental and world premieres when making the official selection; however, it is not a requirement that the film has not been screened in Colombia.


7. Duration:

- Short films: Works from 1 minute up to 35 minutes in length (including credits)

- Feature films: Works longer than 70 minutes with no time limit.


8. SUBMISSION: Applicants must register on FestHome and complete the corresponding submission.


9. SUBMISSION OF WORKS: To submit works, you must upload the high-definition digital copy of the film (.MOV, .MP4, H.264 Compressor or ProRes 422) to a virtual cloud (Dropbox, PCloud, Google Drive, etc.) and send the download link by email. At the same time, you must attach the document granting permission to exhibit your work.


10. RECOGNITION: Official recognitions (Official Selection certificates) will be awarded to selected works in each category after being announced. Laurels will be sent for press kits and posters; likewise, after the Film Festival has concluded, a certificate for your participation in the FESTIVAL will be sent.


11. REQUIREMENTS: The high-definition video of the selected films. If selected, the applicant must place the FESTIVAL laurel on the poster or banner.


12. TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION: By submitting an entry, filmmakers of the films chosen as Official Selection accept that their films will be screened in the different activities framed within the development of the FESTIVAL in the 2026 edition. Additionally, excerpts of images from the films may be used for promotional purposes of the FESTIVAL through media outlets. Submitted material will not be returned and will become part of the FESTIVAL LIBRARY. The FESTIVAL is not responsible for copyright infringements, which are the responsibility of the person submitting the work.


13. THE JURY: The Jury will be composed of specialized filmmakers. The jury will be announced in July together with the announcement of the Official Selection of the festival. The Jury will choose the winners of all main categories. The jury’s decision will be final.
