The #BCIFF aims to provide a platform to promote new talents, projects and professionals in the film and entertainment industry.

The #BCIFF is building a space in which creators can present their proposals in a competition or exhibition format to those involved in the Industry, distributors and the general public.

Also the opportunity to show their work to industry investors.

The objective of this International Festival is to create positive alliances with Mexico, the United States, the rest of the World and the lovers of the 7th. Art.

We are located in Tijuana, Baja California, the most visited border in the world, and our goal with this Binational Festival is to strengthen teamwork across borders.

1. Baja California International Film Festival (BCIFF), the official International Film Festival in the Baja California Norte area, takes place in Tijuana as the main venue and with different activities from the border to Guerrero Negro, it is a forum to promote young talents who produce cinema or audiovisual projects, as well as promoting professional, cultural and commercial film productions. Likewise, it collaborates with the promotion and dissemination of cultural, economic, investment and tourist activities in the State of Baja California.

2.The films in competition and outside of it will be chosen by a selection committee, whose decision is final.

3. All productions registered in BCIFF will have the authorization of the producer to be broadcast within a period of 12 months, within the BCIFF platforms as well as their authorization to be broadcast within the programming that BCIFF has with its allies (festivals , Tv) this in order to give support to the creators to display their content, without any economic charge for the filmmakers, likewise BCIFF does not profit or charge anything for this support to the filmmakers.

We clarify that these transmissions are only with material from previous years, not from the year presented, current in which they register it, since for us it is very important to protect their works and that they have no problem in registering with other festivals and their rules.

COMPETITION

1.The BCIFF has ten competitive sections: 1) Fiction Feature Film Official Selection, 2) Documentary Feature Film Official Selection, 3) Fiction Short Film Official Selection, 4) Documentary Short Film Official Selection, 5) Society, Values ​​Selection, 6) Esperanza y Fe, 7) Official Selection of Animated Short Film, 8) Ecofilm, 9) Indigenous Cinema and 10) Sound Track

2. Works produced in 2021 can participate.

3. Works registered in previous editions of the BCIFF, filmed for promotional purposes and that have been presented on television are not accepted. It is allowed that they have been distributed over the internet with a restricted user code.

4.The exhibition formats during the BCIFF are Blu Ray. The projection technical specifications will be sent to those selected depending on their category.

6.Without exceptions, all the works in competition must be subtitled in Spanish or, if they are in Spanish, be subtitled in english.

5.The last date to deliver the participating works will be provided by the BCIFF. There will be no extensions.

6.Each section will be rated by a jury of two highly qualified members within the industry and category.

7.The jury has the power to award Special Mentions.

8. In the competition sections, films in which any person who works at the Baja California International Film Festival has a position of responsibility cannot participate.

A. Official Selection of Fiction Feature Film

1. It will settle for a selection of high-end Mexican and/or international films that, according to the criteria of the selection committee, have contemporary content that can be marketed both in Mexico and abroad. All productions must have been completed before January 1, 2021.

2. For this competition, fiction feature films are considered to be films with a duration of more than 60 minutes that are identified in one of the following genres: drama, comedy, horror, fantasy or science fiction.

3. Directors are entitled to two accreditations.

4. All festival accredited must redeem their tickets at the box office. The festival will assign the designated places for the competition. The festival will grant 4 courtesy tickets for one of its functions.

B. Official Short Film Selection

1. It will be formed as a selection of high-end Mexican and/or international Short Films, which, according to the criteria of the selection committee, have contemporary content that can be marketed both in Mexico and abroad.

2. Cinematographic works with a maximum duration of 10 minutes can participate in the Short Film Section.

3. Each selected director is entitled to two accreditations.

4. All festival accredited must redeem their tickets at the box office. The festival will assign the designated places for the competition. The festival will grant 4 courtesy tickets for one of its functions.

C. Official Selection of Documentary Feature Film

1. It will be made up of a selection of high-end Mexican and/or international documentaries that, according to the criteria of the selection committee, have contemporary content that can be marketed both in Mexico and abroad.

2. For this competition, films with a duration greater than 60 minutes that are within one of the documentary subgenres are considered as documentary feature films.

3. Each selected director is entitled to two accreditations.

4. All festival accredited must redeem their tickets at the box office. The festival will assign the designated places for the competition. The festival will grant 4 courtesy tickets for one of its functions.

D. Official Selection of Documentary Short Film

1. It will be made up of a selection of high-end Mexican and/or international documentary short films that, according to the criteria of the selection committee, have contemporary content that can be marketed both in Mexico and abroad.

2. Cinematographic works can participate in the Documentary Short Films Section, within one of the documentary subgenres, with a maximum duration of 60 minutes.

3. Each selected director is entitled to two accreditations.

4. All festival accredited must redeem their tickets at the box office. The festival will assign the designated places for the competition. The festival will grant 4 courtesy tickets for one of its functions.

E. Official Selection Society, Values, Hope and Faith.

1. It will settle for a selection of Mexican and/or international films that, according to the criteria of the selection committee, have valuable contemporary content for society, for the rescue of values, hope and faith.

2. For this competition, both feature films and short films of fiction or documentary, of contemporary social issues, of non-profit initiatives, of cultural, educational, ecological value or of community interest will be considered.

3. Each selected director is entitled to two accreditations.

4. All festival accredited must redeem their tickets at the box office. The festival will assign the designated places for the competition. The festival will grant 4 courtesy tickets for one of its functions.

F. Official Selection of Animated Short Film

1. It will be made up of a selection of high-end Mexican and/or international animated short films of any of the animation techniques, which, according to the criteria of the selection committee, have contemporary content that can be marketed both in Mexico and abroad.

2. Works with a maximum duration of 60 minutes can participate in the Animated Short Films Section.

3. Each selected director is entitled to two accreditations.

4. All festival accredited must redeem their tickets at the box office. The festival will assign the designated places for the competition. The festival will grant 4 courtesy tickets for one of its functions.

REGISTRATION

1. Registrations will be made only through the Festhome platform on the Baja California International Film Festival page.

SELECTED WORKS

1.The list of selected works will be published on the festival's official website, https://bajacaliforniafilmfest.com/, days prior to the event.

2.Once selected, the film cannot be withdrawn from the BCIFF programming.

3. All works in competition must be subtitled in Spanish. In the case of works whose original language is Spanish, a projection copy subtitled in English is requested. The works in competition must be subtitled in English and/or Spanish when they are in both languages.

4.The director and/or producer of the selected work agrees to exhibit their work in the following way if the BCIFF will be held from November 11 to 13, 2022, online within all our social networks and platforms that we will make known and in person.

5.The selected works may be part of national and international exhibitions in which the BCIFF participates during 2020 and 2021.

6.To participate in the BCIFF, the directors and/or producers s of the selected works undertake to deliver:

7. BCIFF reserves the right to use a maximum of one minute of the selected works strictly for promotional purposes, including (but not limited to) television and internet broadcasts.

8. The films in competition at the 2nd edition of the Baja California International Film Festival will have a diffusion and press work specially designed for them by the BCIFF, so that during the festival no trips or press instances outside the festival are authorized.

SHIPPING AND RETURN OF MATERIALS

1. The transport costs of the copy or video, as well as their insurance, will be borne by the participant until their arrival at the festival offices. The organization of the festival, for its part, will take care of the insurance of the copies from the moment they arrive at their offices and until the moment they are returned.

2. Selected copies must be delivered to the following address:

3.If you send your work by courier, please declare "For screening at a film festival, without commercial value, for cultural purposes only". The festival will not pay the taxes that this shipment could generate.

4. The BCIFF will not be responsible for damage or loss of materials during shipment.

5.The BCIFF does not cover the cost of return.

ACCREDITATIONS

1.The BCIFF grants accreditations only to those who actively participate in the festival program and events: filmmakers, special guests, press, film distributors and sponsors.

2.Accreditations have validity dates, they are established based on the category of the participant and are set by the festival without the possibility of changes.

3.Accreditations will be delivered in person and with official identification.

4.Accreditations are personal and non-transferable. In case of irregularities they will be cancelled.
