FICSEM Festival, in the Mediterranean area.


For major reasons, and having been immersed in a situation in which we have all been affected, we have decided to adapt to the current situation, and give a new focus to our festival. Maintaining the enthusiasm and passion we feel for the artistic world.


Our festival is aimed at the dissemination and promotion of film authors related to topics of social and/or ecological value.


Because we believe in the power of art as a transformative medium, our contribution from this festival is to give visibility to projects that address environmental and social changes in which we are immersed. We are an international festival because we understand the world beyond barriers, and because we are moved by the need to get to know other cultures and share the best of ours, as it contributes to any improvement in any corner of the world.


The Mediterranean is the climate that surrounds us, and we feel identified with it. In terms of warmth, closeness and transparency. We are a festival that is starting strong, with a large number of committed artists who share our cause, and the desire to share.

And that is why we are not afraid to break the most classic festival patterns. So much so, that in the award for best actor and/or actress, the recognition of the award falls on their social and/or ecological work... And not only on their skills.

Despite having firm ideological foundations. We open ourselves to other artistic areas and initiatives.

OFFICIAL SECTION REGULATIONS


Mediterranean Sea, February 28 to March 9, 2025

1.- The International Festival of Social and Ecological Cinema of the Mediterranean, hereinafter, FICSEM. It is aimed at the dissemination and promotion of new cinematographic authors related to social and ecological issues.


2.- In the contest, films that belong to the ecology or social genre may compete. Meeting this requirement, the call is open to all filmmakers of any nationality. The authors who participate here will be responsible for the rights to their works.


3.- Participation is open to all films in any format, which have been produced after January 1, 2021.


4.- The duration may not exceed 180 minutes. And footage spoken in another language must be sent subtitled into Spanish.


5.- Sending the short films: You can register online through the Festhome platforms (www.festhome.com/) where, in addition to uploading the short film in a high-quality file, you must complete all the indicated information and attach photographs of the film. short film in .jpeg format, as well as contact information for both the production company or distributor and the director.


6.- The deadline for admission of short films ends on January 13, 2025.


7.- The organizing committee will make a first quality selection, which will be exhibited in public sessions within the Festival programming. The screening format of the short films will be in DCP, in which case the copy in this format must be in the possession of the organization before February 20 at the address that will be personally communicated to those selected. The shipping costs of said copy will be borne by the participant and the return costs will be borne by the organization. If a copy is not available in DCP, it will be projected in blue-ray or high-quality digital format.

8.- The selection of short films in competition will be announced on the Festival website www.ficsem.com, e-mail (Hola@ficsem.com) and through various media, starting on February 20, 2025.


9.- The organization reserves the right to schedule samples of the selected footage for the purposes of promotion and dissemination of the Festival, and to use it as support from any media. This includes the possible use of the photographs sent in the Festival Catalog, their advertising and their dissemination in the press.

10.- The Jury will be made up of representatives of the organization, as well as film specialists and international cultural personalities. Said Jury will choose the best work among the selected short films. Its ruling will be final.


11.- The 5th FICSEM awards:

Best SOCIAL FOOTAGE.

Best ECOLOGICAL FOOTAGE.

Best ACTRESS with social and/or ecological commitment.

Best ACTOR with social and/or ecological commitment.

All prizes will be subject to the withholdings established by current regulations. In the event that the Prize is ex-aequo, it will be divided and distributed equally among the winning short films.

12.- The winning short film undertakes to include a mention of the award received in subsequent screenings and promotional initiatives.


13.- The participants exempt the organization from any responsibility derived from plagiarism or any other transgression of current legislation that any of the participants may incur.



14.- Participation in this contest implies full acceptance of the rules. Any issue not provided for here will be resolved by the organization of this Festival.
