The 17th Film Festival: Childhood and Adolescence – 2026 is a celebration featuring spaces for audiovisual exchange and education for children, adolescents, and young adults, with screenings, recreational activities, workshops, panels, and discussions. Its primary objective is to promote Bogotá as a pioneering city in Latin America in terms of ensuring that children and adolescents are visible, play a leading role, and enjoy full rights through audiovisual production. Participation in the exhibition and audiovisual content sharing activities is free of charge.

The Festival will take place from September 7 to 12, 2026.

Children and adolescents will have access to an audiovisual program consisting of national and international animated and fiction short films, television series, and the “FESTICINE AWARD” category, which is awarded to audiovisual works created by children in Colombia and around the world. These will be accompanied by recreational activities that encourage reflection on the central theme: “CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT.”

CALL FOR ENTRIES

17th FILM FESTIVAL: CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE - 2026

The FILM FESTIVAL FOR CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS CORPORATION invites directors, filmmakers, and producers to submit their audiovisual works for the 17th FILM FESTIVAL: CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS - 2026, which will take place from September 7 to 12 in Bogotá, Colombia. Format: In-person and virtual.

The call for entries aims to bring together high-quality national and international film productions aimed at children and adolescents in the following categories:

CATEGORY: NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

1.1.- PROFESSIONAL COMPETITION
National and International Filmmakers

A. Best Short Film: Fiction
B. Best Animated Short Film
C. Television Series (Non-Fiction or Animation Format)

1.2.- AMATEUR COMPETITION
National and International Filmmakers

A. Best Short Film: Fiction
B. Best Animated Short Film

Submissions for these two categories are open to all directors, filmmakers, and producers, who may be individuals, legal entities, or collectives.

CATEGORY: FESTICINE AWARD – Children and Youth
National and International Competition

Open to children and adolescents aged 8 to 12 and 13 to 17 who have created an audiovisual work.

A. Best Fiction Short Film
B. Best Animated Short Film

Works created by minors must have written authorization from their parents or legal guardians
in order to participate in the 17th CHILDREN’S AND TEEN FILM FESTIVAL – 2026

NOTE: For these categories, the duration must be between 3 and 30 minutes (including credits).

THE SELECTED JURY WILL EVALUATE ALL CATEGORIES.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
All audiovisual works produced from JANUARY 2024 THROUGH MAY 2026 are eligible to participate in the competition

By registering for the - 17th FILM FESTIVAL: CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE - 2026, the creator grants, free of charge, the rights to screen the work for non-commercial purposes within the framework of the event.

PROPOSED THEME FOR THIS CALL FOR ENTRIES
THEMATIC FOCUS FOR THE 2026 EDITION, IN ANY OF THE CATEGORIES: “CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT.”

Short films that deviate from the theme established for this edition will NOT be considered for selection.

SUBMISSION DATES
Submission deadline: May 16, 2026
Screening of selected works: September 7–12, 2026

Complete the SCREENING RIGHTS LICENSE for the Festival (If selected)

Failure to submit any of these requirements will result in disqualification. Submission of the work implies acceptance of all contest rules.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMITTING YOUR SHORT FILM

 Credits, synopsis, and two posters of the film in JPG format at 300 dpi.

 The audiovisual work must be submitted with the following specifications: Full HD resolution (1920x1080). .MOV or MP4 container, in both cases with H.264 codec.

NOTES

 The cost of shipping the audiovisual material in any of its formats to the – 17th FILM FESTIVAL: CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE - 2026 will be borne by the participant.

 NOTE: Audiovisual works submitted to the - 17th FILM FESTIVAL: CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE - 2026 will only be accepted in Spanish or with Spanish subtitles.

 Submissions in analog formats will NOT be accepted.

SELECTION AND EVALUATION PROCESS:

 The 17th CHILDREN’S AND TEEN FILM FESTIVAL – 2026 reserves the right to determine the number of works that will advance to the competition.

 The curatorial team, appointed by the Festival, will nominate the selected works that will proceed to the official competition.

 A jury composed of recognized national and international experts in the audiovisual arts, arts, and culture will deliberate on the works in competition.

 The jury’s decision is final.

 Short films not selected will be added to the archives of the CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL CORPORATION.

 Screenings will take place in suitable venues using the festival’s own equipment.

 Selected short films will advance to the official competition. They must complete a SCREENING RIGHTS AGREEMENT to be included in the program of the 17th CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE FILM FESTIVAL – 2026.

 The jury’s final results for the different categories will be published on the official website of the 17th CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE FILM FESTIVAL – 2026. (www.fcicbogota.com)

 One award will be presented for each category in competition.

 In the event that the works submitted in any category do not meet the technical, aesthetic, or production requirements set by the 17th FILM FESTIVAL: CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE – 2026 for the competition, the jury reserves the right to declare that category void.
