The inaugural Happy Valley Animation Festival will take place in State College, PA and exhibited at The Pennsylvania State University(University Park-Main Campus). This animation festival will seeks to showcase animated works in a range of categories.

This festival is a collaboration between students, faculty and local community members and sponsors. The festival is led by the Animation Club at Penn State and the Digital Arts and Media Design program in the School of Visual Arts at Penn State.

HVAF is an open competition and we encourage submissions by students, practicing and aspiring animators and designers into any of the categories that include Animation, Motion Graphics & Media Design, and Experimental Animated works.

HVAF 2021 will be screened locally and online.

Best Animated Short Under 3 Minutes
This award recognizes an Animated Short under 3 Minutes that delivers the best style, creativity, and content.

Best Animated Short Over 3 Minutes
This award recognizes an Animated Short over 3 Minutes that delivers the best style, creativity, and content.

Audience Choice
The Audience Choice Award is voted by the festival audience and recognizes the student film that was the most receptive at the event.

Best Animated Motion Graphics & Design (Open and Student Categories)
This award recognizes an Animated Motion Graphics & Design work that delivers the best style, creativity, and content.

Best Experimental Animated Work (Open Category)
This award recognizes an Experimental Animated work that delivers the best style, creativity, and content.

Best Silly Walk Cycle
This award recognizes a Silly Walk Cycle that delivers the best creativity, style, and content. This is a fun award based off of Monty Python's famous skit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ministry_of_Silly_Walks

To qualify for the festival, your submission must meet the requirements.

• One submission per director.

• Your film is no longer than 15 minutes in length, including end credits. End credits are not required.

• You provide a content warning including
—but not limited to—any instances of profanity, nudity, violence, etc. These instances will not hinder your chances of qualifying.

• No revision will be accepted once your film has been submitted.

COPYRIGHT
It is expected that directors hold all of the respective rights required for their film before submitting. This includes all music, sound effects, product placement, actor/model release forms, etc. Directors without these rights will not be able to screen their films. HVAF will contact you if we believe there is a copyright problem with your submission.
