Split Film Festival / International Festival of New Film takes place every year in Split, an ancient town located in the middle of the Adriatic coast of Croatia. The festival is open to all new, innovative, personal, experimental, radical, subversive etc. Work (film, video, new media) of all genres and lengths, preferably from outside the mainstream, whether it was made on shoe-string budget, or is a studio release.

Split Film Festival offers a quality selection of international, independent, innovative and experimental cinema and visual arts and accepts submissions exclusively through Festhome.

As recent developments indicate that more contemporary artists are looking for new ways of expression in audio visual medium, the festival will present works involving traditional film techniques or the latest technology of electronic image. The festival will present screenings of selected films and videos, VR/AR/AI films, installations, performances, retrospectives, workshops, discussions and festival's catalogue.

All submissions must include a Festhome online screener or a preview DVD, USB stick..

Works submitted for the competition (features / shorts) need to have been produced after 1st of January 2020. The deadline for entry submission is 9th of June 2021.

There is no limit to the duration of films or videos. Works of all genres are welcome. A selection panel will select works for competition and other programs, and international juries will award the prizes.

The selection results will be known by the end of July 2021 and the complete program of the festival will be posted on the festival website in August 2021. All films screened at the Festival should be Croatian premieres.

Screening copies must reach Split by 26th of August 2021.

Preview entries, if any, should be mailed as small package/petit paquet, and must be, if shipped from non EU countries, clearly labelled for custom purposes as follows: preview copy, no commercial value, cultural exchange only. Declared value should not exceed $ 10. Preview copies & documents will not be returned.

Producers / distributors / artists of the entries selected for screening will be notified promptly after selection of procedures for transporting screening copies.

The festival will make all reasonable efforts to present works in the best possible conditions. Transport of the copies is at the risk of the sender.

The screening copies will be returned four weeks after the festival, and the cost of one-way shipment will, as a general rule, be paid by the festival.

Unless specific written notice is given to the contrary, the festival reserves the right to print any accompanying information and still photographs for promotional reasons and/or in the festival catalogue.
