Saraqusta Film Festival is a film and tv series festival about the historical genre in its broadest sense. It was created with the aim of exhibiting and promoting feature films, documentaries and series using the past and the historical context as a common thread.
Submissions are open to Spanish and International works, real-image or animated that deal with the historical genre or whose theme, context or set design are historical or refer to a period of the past.

Rules and regulations
1. The 6th edition of Saraqusta Film Festival will be held from april 24th to may 1st 2026 in Zaragoza.
2. Submissions are open to Spanish and International works that deal with the historical genre or whose theme, context or set design are historical or refer to a period of the past.
3. Works submitted to competitive sections may not have a production date prior to september 1st 2024. In addition, special preference will be given to those works that have not been commercially released in Spanish territory in theaters, television or VOD platforms before their screening at the festival.
4. Participants may submit as many works as they wish.

5. The following sections are established:
FEATURE FILMS OFFICIAL SECTION
Competitive section for Spanish and International feature films, real-image or animated, about historical genre or historical subjects, with no less than 60 minutes long and produced after september 1st 2024.
Audiovisual works produced in Aragón and submitted to this section will also be eligible to participate in the ‘Sección Aragonesa’ exhibition.
DOCUMENTARY OFFICIAL SECTION
Competitive section for Spanish and International documentaries, real-image or animated, about historical genre or historical subjects, with no less than 45 minutes long and produced after september 1st 2024.
Audiovisual works produced in Aragón and submitted to this section will also be eligible to participate in the ‘Sección Aragonesa’ exhibition.
PANORAMA SARAQUSTA
Non-competitive exhibition for Spanish and International tv series and audiovisual works of diverse format and duration, that have an outstanding relevance due to their HISTORICAL CONTENT.
6. Spanish works will be presented in their original language. If the original version is not Spanish, they must be subtitled in Spanish.
7. International works will be presented in their original language. If the original version is not Spanish, they must be subtitled in Spanish or english.
Submission
8. Submission deadline is february 20th 2026. No entry will be accepted before that date.
9. Online submission will be available through FESTHOME platform, where participants must upload the film and fill the required information. The participant will cover the costs associated with the platform in addition to the festival registration fee. The organization may also invite works to be evaluated by the selection committee.
10. Submission for the competitive sections of Saraqusta Film Festival entails a fee of €10
Selection
11. The team responsible for selecting works will be formed by a selection committee defined by Saraqusta Film Festival, all of whom are professionals belonging to the audiovisual, cultural and History study sector.
12. If the work is selected, submitters will be notified and informed about the instructions and schedule for sending the screening copy and promotional materials.
13. By accepting to participate in Saraqusta Film Festival, the organization assumes that the authors/producers have the corresponding exhibition rights and give their permission for the use of promotional images as well as for the public screening at the festival.
14. Works that are not submitted within the stipulated deadline or that do not offer the minimum technical requirements for the festival will be automatically excluded.
15. All selected works will receive a Saraqusta Film Festival laurel, which they may voluntarily include in their work and promotional materials.
16. The organization will contact authors/producers to offer them the possibility of attending the festival to present and promote the selected works.
Jury and awards
17. The Jury will be unique for all sections and will be formed by outstanding personalities from the audiovisual and cultural world and the study of History.
18. No member of the Jury may participate, directly or indirectly, in any of the selected productions.
19. The Jury will choose and decide the winners of each category and their decision will be unappealable.
20. The official categories and awards will be as follows:

In case of ex aequo awards, the amount for that section will be divided among the number of winners.
21. There will also be a special Honorary Award to be announced prior to the beginning of the festival.
22. The winners of financial awards must issue an invoice or receipt and pay the corresponding taxes.
23. In order to receive the prize, a representative of the production must attend the closing gala of the festival.
24. The awards ceremony will take place on May 1st, 2026, during the festival’s closing event.
25. All winners will receive laurels of Saraqusta Film Festival.
Final clause
