RULES OF THE 13th INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL, PLASENCIA ENCORTO 2026.
The Regional Ministry of Education, Science and Vocational Training of the Government of Extremadura, the Plasencia City Council and the 24 Fotogramas Cultural Association announce the 13th International Youth Film Festival: Plasencia Encorto.
Awards and Recognitions
- First Prize (General): Trophy + Diploma + Audiovisual Material
- Best Short Film from Extremadura: Trophy + Diploma + special screening at the Festival Haya Panamá (partner festival)
- Environment and Sustainable Development: Recognition + Diploma + special screening at Another Way Film Festival (partner festival)
- Interculturality and Integration: Recognition + Diploma
- Promotion of Equality and Non-Violence: Recognition + Diploma
- Best Animated Short Film: Recognition + Diploma
- Best Documentary: Recognition + Diploma
IMPORTANT: All short films submitted to the Festival, in any of its sections, shall be eligible for the Best Overall Award and the Best Short Film from Extremadura Award.
General Conditions
-Short films made in educational centers from anywhere in the world can participate, as long as their authors are under 20 years old.
-Projects must be created and executed by the students themselves, although they may be coordinated by teachers or tutors.
-Each educational institution can participate with two short films maximum.
-Accommodation and travel expenses: The Festival will cover round-trip travel from Madrid (Barajas Airport) to Plasencia for one coordinator and two students per institution, as well as their accommodation and part of their meals. The cost of the flight is not included.
-If the short film contains dialogue, english subtitles are mandatory, as well as a PDF with the english subtitles.
-The use of original or royalty-free music is mandatory. The organizers are not responsible for any copyright infringements. Works that do not comply with this requirement will be disqualified.
-The maximum duration of each work is 10 minutes, including credits.
Registration
-Short films must be submitted free of charge via the Festhome platform.
-The submission period begins on Thursday, March 26, 2026, and ends on May 29, 2026.
-Works produced before 2024 will not be accepted.
-It is essential to complete the registration form correctly, as the data will be used for the Festival's official catalog.
-If minors appear in the film, the teacher or tutor must have a signed authorization from the legal representatives of each minor.
-The organization reserves the right to screen the selected works, always citing their authors. Some pieces or excerpts may be used in other festivals, uploaded to the festival's YouTube channel, or sent through media for promotional or educational purposes.
-The submitted short films will have the option to download them in the highest quality.
- Participation in the Festival implies full acceptance of these rules and any decisions the organizers may make regarding unforeseen circumstances not covered herein.
- The final program will be communicated in advance.
- By attending the Festival, participants agree that photographs and videos taken during the event may be used for promotional and press purposes. If you do not wish to appear in these photos or videos, please let us know.
- The short film selected for the final round, will be announced via email and on the Festival's official website.
- The decisions of the selection committee are final.
- The 13th International Youth Film Festival “Plasencia Encorto” will be held from October 15th to 17th, 2026. During these days, the festival's activities will take place, as well as the screening of the selected short films. The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 17th 2026, at the Alkázar Theater in Plasencia (Cáceres, Extremadura).
