Short films whose director was born or resides in Extremadura, or which are produced by companies with registered offices in Extremadura, may enter the Extremaduran Short Film Section and compete for the Reyes Abades Award for Best Extremaduran Short Film. Selection for this section does not exclude participation in the Official Competition, provided the film has not previously been screened in any of the Festival towns.
The submission deadline is 5 May 2026 (inclusive) via the FESTHOME digital platform.
Three photographs of the short film at 300 dpi resolution must be attached.
Upon registration, the entry form must be completed with the film credits and the production company’s contact details.
Once the online submission has been completed, no additional information should be sent by post or email.

Selected films will appear in the Festival catalogue and will be screened publicly between 6 and 11 July 2026 at the official venues in Badajoz, Olivenza and San Vicente de Alcántara. The Official Jury will be composed of industry professionals and representatives of the organisation with voice but no vote. The Luis Alcoriza Award will be granted by a Young Jury composed of residents of Extremadura aged between 18 and 30, selected by the organisation.
Each town’s Audience Award will be decided by vote of spectators who certify attendance at all sessions at that venue. If new venues are added, each will have a €1,000 Audience Award.
Jury and audience decisions are final.
Awards may not be declared void nor granted ex aequo.
Prize amounts will be paid to individuals or legal entities subject to the tax withholdings required by applicable legislation at the time of payment. All taxes are included in the prize amount.
