IndiFest - Barcelona Indigenous Film Festival - aims to promote the identity and rights of indigenous peoples through their own audiovisual narratives.

The festival consists of in-person screenings and online programming, complemented by other advocacy activities such as discussions with Indigenous representatives and communicators in direct dialogue and exchange with the public.

IndiFest is an initiative promoted by alterNativa Intercanvi amb Pobles Indígenes (a member organization of CLACPI), an organization that aims to give Indigenous peoples their own voice and demand compliance with their internationally recognized rights.

JURY AWARDS

The IndiFest organizing committee will invite an international jury composed of at least half of individuals from Indigenous Peoples. All jury members will have experience in the audiovisual media or social transformation and will have no direct connection to any of the works in the festival.

JURY PRIZE FOR BEST FEATURE FILM (45 minutes or longer)
The prize consists of:
Laurel wreath and IndiFest award certificate
Promotion on social media and the festival website
Cash prize of €1,000


JURY PRIZE FOR BEST SHORT FILM (1 to 45 minutes)
The prize consists of:
Laurel wreath and IndiFest award certificate
Promotion on social media and the festival website
Cash prize of €500

The jury may make any special mentions it deems necessary or declare any of the prizes void if none of the entries meet the established criteria.

AUDIENCE AWARD

Through an online voting system, the public will be able to rate the festival's productions, and the highest-rated one will receive the following prize:

AUDIENCE AWARD FOR BEST FEATURE FILM (45 minutes or longer)

Laurel and IndiFest award certificate.
Promotion on social media and the festival website.
Cash prize of €100.

AUDIENCE AWARD FOR BEST SHORT FILM (1 to 45 minutes)

IndiFest Laurel and Award Certificate.
Promotion on social media and the festival website.
Cash prize of €100.

Terms and conditions of the call for entries

Eligible entries:

- Works produced from January 2024 to date.

- Works produced by Indigenous Peoples organizations, communities, or individuals, promoting Indigenous and Afro-descendant authorship.

- Productions in which Indigenous Peoples are protagonists, playing a central role in the narrative as active subjects.

- Productions aimed at:

Promote indigenous identity through topics that address culture, history, knowledge, traditions, and narratives.

And/or promote the rights of indigenous peoples through topics that address the denunciation of rights violations, organizational processes, and the articulation of movements, resistance, or national and international advocacy.

- The same person, producer, or organization may submit more than one work.

- Works may be of any audiovisual genre: fiction, documentary, reportage, animation, music video, experimental, series, or any combination thereof.

- Works may be of any length (short films, medium-length films, and feature films). There will be two categories:

Short films (1 to 45 minutes)

Feature films (over 45 minutes)

- Works in any language are accepted, with preference given to works that use indigenous languages. Any work in a language other than Spanish must be subtitled in Spanish. If the country of production is not Spanish-speaking, english subtitles will be accepted.

- The following will not be accepted:

Works that promote racism or discrimination of any kind, that denigrate or discriminate against women, or that justify gender violence.
Works that promote a political party or religious group.

Works that promote specific institutions or groups for profit or propaganda purposes.

Works that have already been selected in any previous editions of IndiFest.

The following will be viewed favorably:

Productions made collectively.

Productions that focus on the processes of communication and defense of indigenous women's rights.
