Celaya Experimental Film Fest is a platform for the creation and exhibition of audiovisual works that focus on technical, conceptual, and narrative experimentation. The festival welcomes artists who have transgressed and transcended the boundaries of aesthetics, technique, and semiotics to break the dominant standards of the industry. We believe that experimental cinema is free, radical, and forward-thinking, while also responding to the anthropological, social, artistic, and philosophical need to explore horizons beyond the hegemonic forms of cinematic creation, discovering authentic ways of making audiovisual art.

AWARDS & RECOGNITIONS

The best works will take home the coveted Experimental Cat statuette, as well as honorable mentions.

RULES & SPECIFICATIONS

1 to 15 minutes in length, including credits, for the categories: Experimental, Video Art, Artificial Intelligence, Experimental Animation, and Local.

1 to 10 minutes including credits for the Dance Video category.

5 to 25 minutes including credits for the Contemplative category.

Technical requirements

H.264 encoding in .MP4 or .MOV format

Audio at 192 kbps

No bitrate limit

Original music or royalty-free music

Spanish subtitles (if the original language is different)

The festival is seeking audiovisual works with authentic, inventive, or poetic inclinations that push any film language to its limits, adapting new or old technologies to create sublime experiences.
