The Novelda Film Festival Acan Awards
The Novelda Film Festival Acan Awards, organized by the Novelda film and art association, announces the bases to qualify for the awards of its 6ª edition to be held on June 15 and 21, 2026.

The aim of the contest is to promote film culture. Culture is considered a source of wealth and, in this sense, the local promotion of the cultural offer also serves to promote the economic and local development of our municipality. The city of Novelda deserved a Film Festival that would put the municipality on the map of the main festivals in the province of Alicante.

In this sixth edition, it is also sought to promote the making of short films that show the culture of the municipality of Novelda and Alicante. In this edition of the Festival we also open to National Feature Films and Italy as a guest country.

The following awards and categories are established:

Jury Award for Best Feature Film: €500 + Trophy

Jury Award for Best National Short Film: €400 + Trophy

Jury Award for Best Documentary Short Film: €200 + Trophy

Jury Award for Best Animated Short Film: €200 + Trophy

Audience Award for Best Alicante Short Film: €200 + Trophy

Jury Mention for Best International Short Film: Trophy

Special Mention for Best Young Director: €400 + Trophy

Best Actress: Trophy

Best Actor: Trophy

1. The Festival will take place in Novelda from June 15 to 21, 2026. The Festival reserves the right to modify the dates for security reasons and prior notice.

2. Short and feature film productions with free themes may participate. The production of short and feature films must be produced after 2025. The festival will have Japan and Italy as its guest country.

3. The registration will be made through the platform www.festhome.com. There is no limitation on the number of short films submitted by the same participant.

4. The short films selected in the Alicante short film section will be eligible for the Audience Award. Short films shot by Acan members will only be eligible for the Audience Award.

5. All persons or private spaces appearing in the short films must do so with their consent. In no case will be accepted those short films that attack a group, contain discriminatory material and / or violate the dignity of people. The contestants are responsible for ensuring that there are no rights of third parties on the works submitted, being the participant who responds to possible claims.

6. The short films must be the author's or authors' own and previously unpublished in this festival.

7. The duration of the short films must not exceed 15 minutes. The length of the short films shall not exceed 90 minutes. Films and short films in the fiction, documentary and animation genres are accepted.

8. Works must be submitted in any of the following video formats: Mov. or mp4.


9. There is no age limit to participate, but for participants under 18 years old it is mandatory to send an authorization signed by their parents or legal guardians to our email asociaciondecinenovelda@gmail.com


10. All those short films and feature films whose original dialogues are not in Spanish must be subtitled in Spanish. If not, they will be rejected.

11. The submission period for short films is from February 10th to March 31st at 23.59 pm 2025. Short films submitted after this date will not be entered in the current edition of the festival.

The festival reserves the right to extend this deadline, with prior notice, if the quality of the works submitted lacks the desired quality or to leave a prize vacant for the same reason.

12. A selection committee will be in charge of viewing the short films and selecting the finalists that will be included in the festival's program. The committee's decision will be notified to all participants through the registration platforms, prior to the publication of the list of selected titles.

Selected works will be required to submit a screening copy in .mov or .mp4 format, which can be sent using any digital file sending media.

13. The following awards and categories are established:

14. The decisions of the Official Jury shall be final.

14.1 The decision of the different awards will be made official during the closing ceremony, on June 20, 2026. The festival organization will contact the winners, prior to said date, in order to facilitate their attendance to collect the award. Failure to attend the awards ceremony by the Director will not imply any loss of the rights to collect the prize, but the presence of a member of the team will be requested for the delivery of the Award.

14.2 Payment of the award shall be made to the directors of the short and feature films. It is essential for the awarding of the Prize that the director or a representative of the team attends the Closing Gala for the awarding of the prize.

15. The short films and feature films selected will cede the exhibition rights only within the festival program. Under no circumstances will the Premiso ACAN Short Film Festival cede the work to third parties, nor will it broadcast it in whole or in part through the Internet or other digital media.

16. Registration implies acceptance of all the rules. Taking part in the festival presupposes the acceptance of these rules.
