Maravíllame, the University of Cádiz International Short Film Festival, aims to promote film culture and facilitate the exchange of talent and knowledge between the academic and professional spheres.

It will take place on 6, 7 and 8 April 2027 in Jerez de la Frontera, and its programme includes a screening of short films made by university students, a competition with awards in the categories of fiction short film and documentary short film, UCA advertising spot, audiovisual services short film and SEA-EU short film; masterclasses, round tables and workshops with the participation of national and international professionals and teachers.

In addition, spaces will be provided for professionals and university students to meet with the aim of creating networks and synergies that will help to develop the Spanish film industry and promote the young talent being trained in our universities.

Who Can Participate?

University students enrolled in undergraduate, bachelor's degree, master's degree, or doctoral programmes are eligible to participate.

For a work to be considered student-produced, its direction or filmmaking must be carried out by a university student.

General Requirements for Entries

Theme: All short films must address at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

For the advertising spot category, the entry must promote a brand, service, institution, or activity related to the degree programme being studied, within the framework of the selected SDG.

Originality and previous participation: Works must be original and must not have been selected in previous editions of this competition.

Recording format: Any recording device is permitted, although the highest possible technical quality is recommended.

Specific Requirements for the “Audiovisual Services” Category

The work must disseminate knowledge or reflect university life.

The technical production must be carried out entirely by staff belonging to university communications or audiovisual production services. External production companies and co-productions between universities are not permitted.

Entries must be submitted by individual services or departments, not on behalf of the university as a whole.

Submission and Deadline

Submission platform: All short films must be submitted exclusively through Festhome.

Proof of student status: After submitting the entry through Festhome, participants must send their enrolment certificate or proof of student status to: cine.maravillame@uca.es.

Submission deadline: 1 March 2027.

Jury

The jury will be composed on an equal-representation basis of teaching staff or personnel from the University of Cádiz, members of other university communities, audiovisual industry professionals, and representatives of collaborating institutions.

Rights, Obligations and Disclaimer

Values and respect: Entries that violate human rights, promote anti-democratic or discriminatory attitudes, or are offensive to individuals or groups will be rejected immediately.

Intellectual property and image rights:

Participants guarantee that they hold all the necessary rights to their work, the music used, and the image rights of the people appearing in it.

If copyrighted music is used without a licence, the short film may be shown without audio on web platforms for legal reasons.

The Organisers shall be fully exempt from any legal claims brought by third parties.

Granting of rights: By signing the authorship declaration, participants grant the Organisers the rights to reproduce and exhibit their short films as part of the showcase, in this or future editions, and for promotional and dissemination purposes. Works will always be distributed with proper recognition of the original authorship under Creative Commons licences.

Unforeseen circumstances and acceptance: Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of these rules. Any matters not covered by these rules will be resolved at the Organisers’ discretion.
