The International Short Film Festival John Lee - Villa de Mazo is a cultural project that allows Villa de Mazo (La Palma, Canary Islands) to be known as the ideal setting for film shooting, at the same time that it tries to bring the seventh art closer to citizens, making anyone Anyone who wants can participate in a real shoot and thus learn how cinema works from the inside.

Audiovisual works from any country in the world made after January 1, 2026 may participate.

Each participant may submit an unlimited number of works.

Audiovisual works must have a minimum duration of 1 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes, including titles and credits.

Works made in any language may be submitted, with foreign language audiovisual works having the obligation to be subtitled in Spanish.

The registration period will begin on March 1, 2027 at 00:01 and will end on July 31, 2027 at 23:59.

A committee designated by the organization will select a maximum of 10 works that will be considered finalists and eligible for the planned awards. The committee's decisions will be final.

All works received will become part of the festival archive.

The producers and/or directors of the works authorize, by registering, all promotional actions of the Festival that involve the exhibition, partial non-profit screening, of their works submitted to the competition for dissemination in promotional events of the festival and any media before or after the jury has issued its decision, as well as in the cultural centers and circuits of the territorial area.

The selected works will be publicly projected during the Closing Gala, according to the calendar prepared by the organization.

The presentation of the work within the established deadlines implies acceptance of these bases.

Legal clause of good professional practices: I am informed that my participation in FIC John Lee implies full acceptance of the rules. By signing the form, the contestant guarantees to hold each and every one of the exploitation rights of the short film and to have the authorizations and/or transfers of copyright of the short film (director, authors of the plot, scriptwriters, and authors of the musical compositions with or without lyrics), of the artists, performers, authors and other people involved in the short film; as well as having the express authorization or consent of the owner for the use of their image in the terms referred to in article 2 of Organic Law 1/1982, of May 5, on civil protection of the right to honor, to personal and family intimacy and one's own image.
