Festival CinemaZERO ()

“ZERO cinema” is an artisanal and experimental artistic approach that contrasts the assembly line of industrial film production; it is hyper-independent, produced or auto-produced by single artists or small groups (less than 10 people) with no commercial interests; it is made with common and easily accessible, or innovative and low cost, means of production.
“ZERO cinema” has a different attitude, adventurous or poetic, DIY or punk, anarchic or self-sufficient, to the video work; it speaks with a personal, intimate, courageous and autonomous voice.
“ZERO cinema” is, more than any other thing, a strong idea of cinema and artistic production.

It is now evident that Large Language Models (LLMs) are technosocial entities that are already changing — and are destined to revolutionize — everyone’s lives. Described as “the ultimate invention of Humanity” in Alessandro Areso’s recent essay Geopolitica dell’Intelligenza Artificiale (Feltrinelli, 2025), they are bound to exponentially expand the scope and relevance of the already overwhelming digital infosphere that envelops the planet with interconnected data. A Latent Planet (Cosimo Accotto, Egea, 2024) is emerging — one where social media, digital images, virtual worlds, and AI agents increasingly encroach upon the realms of information, education, productivity, finance, and creativity, long dominated by humans.
In this section we are looking for cinema zero audiovisual works that stage this digital assault on the analog and humanistic world — in its paradoxes, possibilities, wonders, and horrors — offering stories of resistance and/or alliance between worlds and beings: real and virtual, natural and synthetic, human and post-human

This section is opened to animation film ONLY.

Whether drawn by hand or in computer graphics, in step motion or made with mixed techniques, animation represents one of the richest expressions of "zero cinema". We are looking for works by authors, solitary or gathered in small groups, who express an artisanal approach, albeit technologically advanced.
