The Chicharrón Film Festival, held in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz, Spain), celebrates its fifth edition from November 20 to 29, 2025, continuing its commitment to emerging talent and bold storytelling in short film format.

With a total prize of €2,600 and several special mentions, the festival aims to highlight excellence in key cinematic disciplines such as directing, acting, cinematography, scriptwriting, and production.

The call is open to short films of any genre or theme, offering an inclusive platform for both new voices and established filmmakers. The program values diversity and innovation, showcasing a wide range of creative perspectives.

The Official Selection Gala will take place on November 28, featuring a curated screening of standout shorts in a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.

All submissions will be reviewed by a professional and multidisciplinary jury, ensuring a transparent and high-standard evaluation process.

Beyond screenings, the festival fosters a space for exchange and collaboration among filmmakers, audiences, and industry professionals. A place where stories are shared, connections are made, and passion for cinema thrives.

From November 20 to 29, 2025, short films take center stage in Chiclana. The Chicharrón Film Festival continues to grow as a key meeting point for those who believe in the power of storytelling through cinema.

Theme
Submitted short films may address any topic or genre.

Eligibility
Participation is open to any individual or production company, whether amateur or professional.

deadline
Films must be submitted by Saturday, November 1st, 2025 at 23:59 (CET).

Film Requirements
Maximum length: 29 minutes. There is no minimum length.

All audiovisual techniques are accepted: animation, mobile devices, video cameras, digital video, and film.

Films must have been produced after January 1st, 2022.

If the short film contains dialogue in a language other than Spanish, it must include Spanish subtitles.

Participants are responsible for securing the rights to their works.

Best Andalusian Short Film Award
This award will be granted to works that meet the following criteria:

Produced and filmed in Andalusia (Spain).

With at least 70% of the technical and artistic team made up of professionals residing in Andalusia.

The aim is to promote and showcase Andalusian filmmaking talent and support local audiovisual production.

Jury

The jury will consist of industry professionals from various fields. Their decision will be final and unappealable.

Jury members will be announced on our social media channels during the festival.

Selection Criteria

The Official Selection Committee will choose a group of short films to be included in the Official Selection of the 5th Chicharrón Film Festival.

From this selection, the jury will award prizes and mentions to the films they consider deserving.

Only the winning short films (monetary prize or special mention) will be screened at the Official Selection Gala, held on Friday, November 28th, 2025 in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz).

A maximum of 10 short films will be screened, although this number may be adjusted for the smooth flow of the gala.

Selected filmmakers will be notified.

Intellectual Property

Submitting a short film implies the non-exclusive transfer of exhibition rights to the festival organizers, solely for use within the programmed activities of the event during the year.
